The Game 2023 NRL Match Review Charges & Judiciary

This article sums up the whole Walsh case well -

Also, as I pointed out well up thread on Monday, regardless of whether Walsh directed his tirade at a team mate, an opponent, or the referee, he was still guilty of using offensive or obscene language on the field which, under the laws of the game, is still misconduct.

If he wasn't happy with his team mate, he should have done a Ben Hornby and just used hand gestures.

@This Year? - I remember this moment like it was yesterday. What a brain fade.

If that’s the finding, then Fifita and Carrigan should be suspended for lying under oath at the judiciary. One game should do for Fifita and about, oh.. [checks draw] one game for Cardigan, but delayed until round 26. That should sort them.

There is some serious copium in this thread from Broncos fans. Fifita couldn't even keep his story straight and is a QLD team mate. Hell,Reynolds even tried to claim he was talking to a Titan's player (which Walsh supposedly 'liked') on Instagram. Three weeks is nothing really - don't talk like that to referees.

I do agree that accusing a ref of cheating is worse than swearing at them and largely seems to go without suspension (that I can remember anyway) though which is bizarre. Maybe because past instances haven't been recorded so clearly in the ref's mic.

At least Dylbro is an honest sexual assaulter, plead guilty. Eyelash chucked a tanty, lied, and then got 3 mates to lie with him.

What it boiled down to was there was about 60 seconds of vision of Walsh "remonstrating" with the ref over the course of a single game. That's too much considering he's not the captain

This is it for me…. It’s highly likely that he was directing his tirade at the ref, but it cannot be unequivocally proven, however, given his attitude towards the ref all game, and in other games recently, I think whether it was actually at the ref or not becomes insignificant. He reacted badly to a decision (that was entirely correct by the way), had a blow up at the ref for the umpteenth time in that game and deserves a 3 week spell to think about how he can handle decisions going against him better. There has to be absolute protection for the refs, otherwise it will start creeping into the game more and more and eventually you end up like soccer where players are surrounding the ref and getting right in their face.
Take the 3 weeks, accept you’ve acted like a goose (regardless of if you directed that word to the ref or not) and be better.

Reece should have done a Taylan May and requested when to serve his suspension.
Maybe he could whinge to the RLPA and QRL and push so he can still get picked for SOO and get that rep money.

Can anyone tell me what the point of a plea of no contest is?
I'm not entirely sure with the current system, but the previous system I believe there wouldn't be any carryover points. So particularly near finals, it made sense to take an extra week with a no contest so there wouldn't be a carryover penalty that would lead to an extra week on another charge.

Has AFB had 'no priors'? I'd assumed he'd had a few charges in the past 12 months?
