Well it isnt the exact same thing your right because it would actually require reynolds to deliver results. He obviously didnt want that added pressure of having to perform so went with the broncos deal which is smarter for himself and his family. I am almost certain if he stayed with Souths and didnt perform he wouldnt have been left to go beg on the streets they wouldve offered him some kind of coaching job.
Yeah I get that but he did perform for the Broncos. He single handedly won them many games and was responsible for leading them from near cellar dwellers to a GF. It just didn't happen for him.
Yes he made 2 crucial errors but he wasn't the one in the back 3 that were nowhere to be seen when Cleary kicked the 40 20, he wasnt the one who missed the tackle on Cleary that sent Leota over, he wasn't the one of 3 tacklers that failed to stop Crichton 5m out, and he wasn't the one that allowed Cleary to go in untouched to win the game.
Walsh f...ed up big time in the last 15 mins and it cost them the game. He should have made that cover tackle on Crichton, and was out of position when Cleary scored.

Completely disagree. As well as the obvious errors he made his kicking choice was pretty much sub par all night with half the kicks lucky to not go out on the full, his running game was non existent, his defence was horrendous. He isnt a big game player and it was Mam and Walsh who had to step up to break the game open for the Broncos.

If im up by that much i want my half screaming at the players and controlling the game with his kicking by kicking early in the tackle counts but he just didnt do that.

in fact if im being fair dinkum reynolds is the reason why weve been flat track bullies for the past couple of years because he's great when we're on a roll but when we're behind he disappears.

We will have to agree to disagree, and that's cool.
But many people have been saying the same thing about Cody, so which is it?
Or is it both of them?

You are preaching to the choir, but a lot of detractors ain't buying it.
Just look at our last 3 months of headlines, rumors, and commentary by the media.

As to be expected with the poor end to our season. I fully expect there to be an indepth review over the offseason about what went wrong because we are easily a top 4 team and that just wasnt good enough from us. I love that our NSW cup boys are playing so well because it puts pressure on our first grade squad over the preseason.

This year will be a defining moment in JD's career for sure because we have the talent to be competing for a premiership.

Yesterday proved to me we made the right call on Reyno. Brisbane almost fluked a premiership this year and Penrith still took it from them with their backs against the absolute walls. Reynolds is not a big game player and ive believed this from the moment he left Souths. If Souths lost the game last night after leading 24-8 id be absolutely spewing.

We needed a halfback better than Reyno to win a GF and we might not have it just yet but patience is key.
We still got further with Reyno than without him mate since he’s left we’ve gone backwards and part of that reason is not having him.

Nobody in the NRL was stopping Cleary that last 20mins mate. Brisbane were deep in their half and the Penrith middles steamrolled them. Penrith were favs and Brisbane only lost by 2 points.

To be honest with you i dont know if Illias is the answer but i dont think he was the cause of our demise this year i think injuries and origin killed our momentum and we peaked way too early. I also havent seen Illias play in a final yet so i couldnt tell you if he is as much of a choker as Adam Reynolds is. lol.
Mate Ilias tackles well but what else does he have? Our kicking game is bottom 4 standard and he can’t manage a game not even partly. Cody has had to steer the side around more and kick more which he’s bad at which takes away from Cody natural game. Apparently Cody has been pissed off about this and wants a 7 who can kick well. He went to JD on the run home wanting Ilias to be dropped but JD wouldn’t and apparently Cody and JD didn’t talk for a few weeks.

But Adam wasn't offered a 2 year deal.
It was a one year deal with a club option on the 2nd year.
This has been well documented, over and over and over.
They are NOT the same thing.
Adam is on record saying he would have stayed if given two years guaranteed.
The Broncos gave him 3, and now are extending him for an extra year
Mate that was all talk too they only offered one year apparently not even a second year in the clubs favour but of course Reyno wouldn’t entertain it either why would you go year to year at 30/31 years old when Sutto started taking one year deals when he was 33.

Sorry mate I agree with Botany on this one. I thought his kicking game was on point for most of that game. Half the kicks not lucky in general play to go out on the full is a massive over exaggeration. Cleary missed the same amount of tackles as Adam. Adam made 32 tackles and made some crucial ones I wouldn’t say his dfence was horrendous again an over exaggeration. Thurston after the game analysed the Penrith last try and said Riki went the wrong way at marker and Walsh was out of position that’s why there was space for Cleary yet Reyno couldn’t stop the famous step of Cleary that’s nothing to be ashamed of nobody was stopping Cleary there.

Kicking early wouldn’t have benefited them from deep in their own 20 or 30 Brisbane were gassed and kicking earlier would have meant more tackling. There was a poor option Reyno took on the last when Brisbane finally were attacking they ran it on the last but keep in mind that could’ve been what coach Walters wanted as Walsh kept giving away 20 metre restarts kicking the ball dead.

I wouldn’t say Reyno disappeared when it was going against us it was his strong game management and kicking game that kept us in lots of games.

Remember we made the top 4 six out of 10 seasons with Adam. We have now missed the top 4 in the two seasons since he’s left. I’d rather be getting that far then finishing 7th and 9th.

Sam Burgess I feel was correct last week in coming out and saying it was a mistake to let Adam go and the proof has been in the pudding. Many players don’t play in a grand final in their career Adam has made 3 grand finals and won a premiership. Thurston only played 2 grand finals won one and lost one does that mean he’s still not a legend and a brilliant player? Brisbane wouldn’t have got that far without Adam.

If we could go back in time I would’ve preferred we let Damien go and keep Reyno but we can’t.

Also if we think we are gonna be able to win big games with a shit kicking game we are kidding ourselves Cody Trell and Cook have never been game maangers.

Also finally we are missing mongrel in the pack for mine as well.

I do agree on Pete needing to play 14 and he given more game time.

Still I’m doubtful we can make top 4 next season with Trell who can’t stay on field all year and issues at 7 and 9. Plus issues with our defence and attitude etc we can’t sustain it plus our poor completion rates too.

Youve given me a lot to read haha.

I genuinely cant believe your complementing his kicking game. watching the game back again i dont think any of his kicks touch grass. He didnt land any 40/20's and kicked it out on the full on a short drop out. I dont know how you can be bagging Illias out when he has never made that many kicking errors in a game. Cleary is allowed to miss tackles in the game because he single handedly won Penrith the game something that Reynolds would never be able to do. Reynolds defence isnt the sole reason he didnt play well just a contributing factor.

Billy Walters had already caught Penrith out in the first half by kicking early. The Penrith wingers werent dropping back until the 5th tackle. It was the only way Reynolds was going to find grass on his kicks. Brisbane were 100 percent gassed but thats because they were making errors all night and handing over possession.

I dont understand your logic. I dont want to be making the top 4... I want to be winning comps. The fact is is that weve been perrenial chokers for the past decade except for 2014. We shouldve won in 2021 and probably wouldve if we had a better halfback.

Reynolds is 33 years of age and is not getting better as a halfback. I honestly believe the last time i saw Reynolds really stand up in a game and take it over was 2018 against the Dragons in week 2 of the finals. Thats what i want from my halfback.

And if you dont respect my opinion then you can respect Cooper Cronks opinion because he has even come out and said he doesnt think Reynolds stands up in big games.

Cronk has a grudge with Reynolds because Adam broke his shoulder. Cronk has never forgot that.
And Cronk is not going to bag Walsh and say it was his mistakes that cost them the GF. Cronk is on the coaching staff for QLD SOO

Reynolds has been unfairly targeted by some critics for the Broncos' late collapse in the big dance - without his cool head, the Broncos would never have got as far as they did.

Well said Moley
Not unfairly. They choked.
24-8 with 20 minutes to go. All we have heard for the last 2 years is how good Reynolds kicking game is and his game management. That was nowhere to be seen in the last 20.
21 he missed the kick to tie the game.
20 he stood on the line trying to kick a 40/20.
moments in big games when he misses the mark.
you take the cash you take the criticism.

Can’t kick the ball well mate if you don’t have it and when you get it if you’re dropping it.

Cleary took it away from them I do not see it as a choke as they were never favourites.
