Keep fighting Merro you legend

From the South Sydney Rabbitohs website.

MERRO UPDATE: Some great news regarding Nathan Merritt. Nath is now able to get out of bed, sit up and speak to people! He is recovering well and progressing every day, but has a long way to go to a full recovery. Merro asked us to thank all of the Rabbitohs fans for their support and prayers. It means so much to him

Do we think that we're gonna see Murray much more on the edge though with Duncan playing in the middle? Stretch is too good of a centre to be moving him now anyway.
I was thinking the other way around, Cam in the middle, Duncan on the edge, especially if Cam is going to play 1st/2nd receiver.
But Duncan needs to hit the gym and bulk up for that to happen.

Remember Sattler was only a small guy but could hit like a brick. I see the same in Tallis, his size is deceptive

I also predict Lachlan Illias to step up into the player I saw in his junior career

I dont really mind either way it looks like Tallis will end up in the starting 13 by the end of the 2024. He's just got that mongrel in him.

I was thinking more out of necessity, we're light on for backrowers.
.

Maybe Duncan at 11 is the answer?

Ilias in two seasons hasn’t shown a good kicking game especially the lack of a long kicking game. He needs to improve massively at this area and start leading the side around the park which is the job of a 7.

You might be right as we can’t move Murray from 13. I know Murray plays a bit of second row for us at times mid game but he’s so important to our attack as well and that ball playing option.

Anyway to get anywhere next year our ball control and resilience need to improve massively. So does our defence and stopping the offloads which has been an issue for many years now. Also defusing kicks another big issue we concede lots of tries off kicks. Year after year goes by and still it’s not addressed and I’m sick of it.

I have also heard Mamozelos might not be staying after next season as he’s free to negotiate with other clubs come Nov 1. And if he’s not getting a go here at all he will go. I’ve heard 3-4 clubs are interested in signing him.

He’s almost 23. He has shown nothing to say he’s the guy to replace cookie. South’s should be trying to sign Corey Paix.

Illias is only 23 though and will get better. Plus he has more pressure with Wighton and Hawkins around and playing well.

Tallis was great at 13 this year for reserve grade too. Murray is a great ball runner and could be utilised that way as well and to fix up our shotty edge defence.

All those problems have been our weaknesses for years though. Kick defusals are extremely difficult because teams like Penrith base a lot of their attack on Bombing it to players like Crichton who are specialists in the air. I think wrapping up the ball is a fair point weve sucked at that for years. Our forward pack was just getting dominated in the second half of the year getting put on our backs every hit up and getting bumped off in tackles.

i like Mamazoules i wouldve liked to see him share the hooker role with Cook this year. Cook needs to start getting breaks so he can run the ball more.

Paix? He can’t even keep the back up spot on the broncos team. PM would already be our regular dummy half if cook wasn’t there. You clearly haven’t watched many lower grade games, he carry’s that team a lot of the time.

make him the 14 this year and let him be the energiser we need off the bench

The coach clearly doesn’t rate him if he won’t play him. He’s just a stock standard hooker. I’ve watched him enough to know he’s not the answer.

Wow so Haumole has pushed for even more money on top of that. If it’s over the 6mil mark he’s gonna be on close to 900k.

Makes me feel good about us getting Keaon to extend for 2025 and 26 on around that 800k mark. We were a bit lower than that in our offer and Keaon apparently agreed when we got it up a bit higher to that 800k mark. Dragons offered Keaon 850k and Raiders 900k. 2-3 other clubs were very interested in Keaon too.

Keaon is way better than Haumole too. I think a few years ago top tier second rowers would get like 800k but it seems 900k-1mil seems to be their new asking price.

I do not know about way better Haumole improved massively the season just gone I’d say Keaon has been consistent but Haumole has more explosive games but we need to keep in mind Haumole is running off DCE and we have Ilias feeding Keaon.
