Austadiums says the capacity of WIN is 22k, if that's true, we might have a venue record crowd this week. Current record crowd is 19,608 for St George Illawarra vs Cronulla way back, in September 2005Might sneak in another 20k crowd this round.
I’m not sure they are allowed more than 18 or 18 and a bit or so in WIN these days. I guess we will get an indication this weekend
Women's team sport struggles to make an impact at club level everywhere. Mainly because markets are saturated by the equivalent men's product.I was surprised with the turn up... it looked like tickets were actually moving leading up to the game.
Still 3,921 is up from 3,634 for the same fixture last year, so at least it is heading in the right direction.
Only the hill sold out for the Manly game, there was still seating unsold, especially in the northern grandstand.Austadiums says 13,000 seats, hard to imagine they’ll let 9,000 in on the hill. 5-6,000 seems closer. I could be wrong but I thought the Manly game there earlier in the year sold out in the end? that ended up about 16k. Good to see a sellout regardless.
TV numbers would tank at 12pmI think midday sunday would work out ok. I'd rather go to a midday game there than a 4pm game even. But I don't have kids or much responsibility haha
Yeah. I'm sure the extra game will be back to Monday nightTV numbers would tank at 12pm
Any crowd figure for Parra last night?
I`m a Saints supporter of 50 years plus (I started young ha ha) and even I don`t mind the idea of them going full-Illawarra Steelers when they play in the `Gong.Great crowd Wahs. Good signs for Wollongong. St George really need to dig into this area more. Need to embrace the Illawarra in their name. Play in the red jersey when they play there.
That`s why I think double-headers with the same men`s home team are the go. Makes it more of an event and our games don`t go on for too long for it to be a drag.Women's team sport struggles to make an impact at club level everywhere. Mainly because markets are saturated by the equivalent men's product.
Rep fixtures provide the best chance of cutting through. Seen it over here with England in Soccer and, to a lesser extent, Rugby Union. Likewise, Origin is crucial to Aussie women's RL.
Really hope the NRL can galvanize the fanbase for next year's Australia v England games. Starting in Vegas.
So true because realistically they only need the alternate kit against the dogs. Plus I love the Steelers jersey, dat scarlet.I`m a Saints supporter of 50 years plus (I started young ha ha) and even I don`t mind the idea of them going full-Illawarra Steelers when they play in the `Gong.
Western Grandstand was well populated & corporate was sold out for the game. Definitely was over 10K.That was one of those GWS 11k crowds. There was about 7000.
