2024 Crowd Watch

They need to call themselves the Brisbane Dolphins. FFS it isn’t hard. Redcliffe is a whole lot of nothin.
Disagree, they have every right to refer to themselves as Redcliffe and honour their tradition just like the Sydney clubs do. It will have zero negative effects in terms of gaining city wide support here.

For example, Cowboys and Storm have a lot of support throughout Brisbane and neither are even from the city. Dolphins need to continue to produce QLD state of origin stars and the support will continue to grow.

That is going to be the case with any new club, Dolphins look to be stronger long term than Titans. Both on field and off
Dolphins also have the advantage of having a guaranteed 40K+ game against the Broncos & a 30K+ game against the Cowboys to help keep their crowd averages strong.

The decent Storm & Warriors supporter bases in Brisbane give them another couple of 20K+ games, plus there are sizable Dragons, Rabbitohs & Eels bases as well.

The Titans unfortunately only had the Broncos game that's a guaranteed 20K+ crowd. They never developed a rivalry with the Cowboys and with a lot of the other supporter bases being more Brisbane based, they only get a portion of the benefit.

The Titans need success. You can't build rivalry when you're getting beaten with wet lettuce.

No, they don’t have some right to f**k it up.
It’s meant to be the second Brisbane. The idea is there was demand for a second Brisbane team that would essentially represent most fans who are up there and hate the broncos. People were thinking they would be about as big as the broncos.
Next you will be saying they have a right to play at Redcliffe in front of 10k crowds.

They aren't f**king anything up. They averaged 26k in their first season and will probably end up higher this year and have 30k members.

I think you need some perspective.

- Broncos averaged 17k in their first season

- Crushers averaged 25k in their first season

- Broncos averaged 28k in their first full season back at Suncorp with all the novelty factor that comes with it

- Dolphins are the second highest averaging club in their first season and will most likely be this season too.

You are overreacting to a 22k crowd against a Tigers team that have done nothing for a decade. The crowd was on par and was pretty good in a historical context also.

Broncos current acceleration is brilliant but that shouldn't be the bar for the Dolphins right now. As has been pointed out by @SLRBRONCOS , the Dolphins crowds at Suncorp are like that of the Broncos when they returned to Suncorp.

Re: playing games at Kayo... I dont like that they do it, but yes, they do have the right to play at their own ground and give back to the fans that have been with them when they weren't an NRL side.

My hope is that they finance an upgrade to 25k at some stage over the next 20 years if they continue to use it as an NRL venue.

If they do start playing games at Redcliffe the NRL needs to bring in a second Brisbane team and just let Redcliffe become another Cronulla.

They already play games at Redcliffe and still average 26k (will be more this year). Cronulla wish they were that big.

Agreed on one more SEQ team. Western Corridor will complete the SEQ puzzle.

Do you actually follow rugby league? How could you not know they already play there?
Not everyone on this site follows rugby league. While a few just follow it casually.

With the Dolphins, geographically, they represent the north or northeast of Brisbane. So the Dolphins do have an identity with the type of area they represent. If they play one or two games a year at Kayo, it wouldn't hurt them.

If anything, it connects them back to their roots.

Cowboys v Titans is ahead of where it was for Cowboys v Titans.

Lower Bowl is down to single seats, Southern Grandstand only has the last 2-4 rows left in most bays and there has been some decent movement in the east, especially 227-229.

I'd be surprised if this isn't over 20K, and feel it's pushing more towards 22K.

Have no idea how to read Canberra Stadium sales. Gold Lower Bowl are sold out & Platinum is down to singles, which generally means its on track for 14K+, but I'd be guessing beyond that. Eels fans have traditionally travelled to Canberra, but Sunday night will rule a lot of them out.

With the Dolphins they should call them the Brisbane Dolphins.
Get rid of that K I N G S ad sprawled across the jersey and replace it with D O L P H I N S . Put the ad elsewhere and make it much smaller.
Essentially really go about establishing their identity as the Dolphins and as Brisbane’s team for all of Brisbane.
That is what they should do.

I knew they played a game there a week or two ago but understood that was because of a clash with something else wanting the stadium.
They play at Suncorp. How can you not know that?

I suggest you do some research. Look at the roster. You might learn something.

But why? I don't think anyone is confused with who they are when they take the field.

There is a Dolphins on their jersey, they wear different colours than 15 of the 16 teams in the competition, there are Dolphin mentions everywhere whenever on TV or in a stadium, why would you risk a $1.25m sponsorship to spell out to people that you're the Dolphins?

There are so many more constructive ways they can build their brand than just slapping a word on their chest.
