2024. DRAW

First five fixtures according to Nine:
  • St George Illawarra: Gold Coast (A), Dolphins (A), Cronulla (H), Manly (H), Newcastle (A)
Also to play Sharks again in round 9 and Bulldogs round 12. I hate complaining too much about the draw but seriously? We start the season where we'll have to spend the first two weeks in qld. We return back home to play two Sydney teams, and then away to Newcastle, so we get no advantage of a team travelling to play us at all despite spending the first two rounds in another state. Could we not have at the very least played: canberra @ home or Newcastle @ home?
The draw is always a crock of shit. So over this garbage. I’m surprised the nrl didn’t jam it right up us and send us to Townsville or NZ for round 5

There will now be 3 games on Anzac Day. Drags vs Roosters, Warriors vs Titans & Storm vs Rabbits.
This is not surprising - teams have been coverting our presence on that day for years. Directly replacing us may have caused a stir but diluting us won't raise a sweat. Once again Souths have positioned themselves perfectly. Incredibly well run commercial club.

That's weird shiloh. Last year and previous years, besides the usual Dragons v Roosters games the other games on Anzac Day have been between the Storm and Warriors, but for 2024 it will be the Warriors v Titans and Storm v Rabbits? I wonder why they have changed this?

It's so NZ can have their own Anzac Day game. Good idea in my opinion, why shouldn't NZ get an Anzac Day game? Storm and Rabbits presumably so they still have an Anzac Day game in Melbourne.

Yes, I just read about this, thanks. The Warriors do deserve the game in NZ and the Storm traditionally here so they have been matched up with Souths and the Warriors against the Titans. I wonder if these will be the same games for each year going forward?

Probably. Unless Anzac Day falls on a Friday in which case the Broncos will no doubt play.

Have always thought that the only game played on this day should be an ANZAC Day test match Australia v New Zealand.
If Vlandys really wants to stick it to the Aussie Rules boys, an international match, something the AFL can never have, this would be a great opportunity to do it.
As much as being an incredibly proud Australian, and really proud that the Dragons have played in the feature game on this very special day for many years, I think this is one occasion when the NRL have taken the wrong option in how to honour this day.

Honestly some pretty decent scheduling times for us in the draw this year in both home and away games. If we're even going somewhat alright next year, Dragons fans should be out in force to a lot of these games. In the process, proving to the NRL that we are still a relevant entity with plenty of fans. In recent years, so many Dragons fans have gone into hiding, next year should change things given the draw.

We play Panthers before origin 1 and Broncs before origin 3.
Kogarah gets 3 out of town teams.
Dolphins,Cowboys.Raiders.
Maybe next time take Anzac Day off The Gong's schedule and give us more at Kogarah.

I don't like this Kogarah victim mentality at all. This is a national competition, you can't expect all of the out of town teams to play at WIN. It's not as if Kogarah gets no games against Sydney teams, in fact it arguably gets the biggest two games with traditional rivals Souths and Canterbury. Both on a Saturday at 5:30pm and 7:35pm respectively, no excuse for fans not to turn up. Who cares if we play out of town teams at Kogarah? It's our home game, so our fans should be turning up regardless no? If Kogarah is this supposed "spiritual home". The important thing is the scheduling times, which Kogarah has in its favour this time around. Round 3 v Cowboys Saturday @ 5:30pm. No excuses not to turn up. Round 10 Saturday at 5:30pm v Souths, round 17 v Dolphins Sunday at 2pm, round 23 v Bulldogs Saturday at 7:35pm, round 27 v Raiders Saturday @ 3pm. Every single one of those games is scheduled at a good time, there is absolute no excuse for fans, willing to give their money to the club at the moment, not to turn up. No bullshit excuses this year at all, the times are in Kogarah's favour. By the way, because ANZAC Day is our home game, that makes up for another Sydney team we play in Sydney.

With regard to that though, it's been a pretty unique situation. Last year women's world cup was the cause for only 5 games at Kogarah. This year, it's 5 games at Kogarah because of the ANZAC game, but that is being played in Sydney anyway. It's not hard for Sydney fans to get to Allianz rather than Kogarah.
