Who cares about NFL? It's rubbish. How many games do they play 12?

That's not the point, it doesn't matter if you like/dislike NFL (i personally don't). The point is that it is without doubt one of the worlds biggest football competitions and they don't have full home/away rounds. That is all this digression is about.

Old mate has subsequently chipped in with UEFA/WorldCup to somehow strengthen his argument that the biggest football codes in the world have full home/away rounds which in itself is quite baffling.

Ok flick it’s ‘old mate’ here.
This is the last time I will chat on this subject
ALL the European and Asian and South American football (soccer to Aussies) are home and away.
The World Cup / Euros/ Champions League are of course different formats. I only mentioned them in comparison to the shitty NFL regarding revenue and sheer size of the global game.
Even the English Super League play home and away formats
It’s the fairest way to decide the best team over the course of a season

BTW - NFL legend Tom Brady is visiting Aust end Jan 2024. He is supposedly doing a show at the Crown Melb being billed as One Night only. They make it sound like it's his only show in Aust but somehow I doubt it.
I would wager he visits Sydney before Melbourne.

Lol .. it’s the biggest tournament in British football. I know it’s knockout - just another example of a major footy comp that isn’t two full rounds playing each other twice …

i see you conveniently ignore Argentina .. must not be part of “all of South America” .. I believe Mexico is a bit odd as well not playing two full rounds …but I guess that is too close to USA to care about …

this was your bullshit statement - just admit you were wrong - you will feel better - cathartic even

“in all the major football comps worldwide each team plays each other twice home and away.”

Are you serious! The fa cup is a specific knockout tournament. The winner is not the champions of England only the winner of the home and away is.
Each country has these knockout tournaments even good old Oz.
As far as Argentina goes they have too many teams to play home and away, 28.
Now I will admit I don’t know much about Mexican football I can only assume it’s too hot or that they may have too many teams. As you seem to be google king maybe you can explain it.

The more I look at our draw the more concerned I have become of how hard we could find ourselves getting wins. What I am most concerned about is whether or not we can dominate in any of the games. I'm guessing that we won't in many of the games, but I know the comp hasn't started yet so I hope that I am totally wrong.

I guess time will tell... If flanno can actually get the side fit and bring some defensive steel, then we should be instantly better.

Flanno up against Hasler Rd 1 then Bennett Rd 2 which is good. He has been up against these coaches before and hopefully knows their style of play to plot against. If Saints can jag 2 wins from the start that will be pretty solid as these 2 teams will be ones that will be fighting for places in the bottom half of the ladder. Cowboys also are slow starters. The Cows lost to Dogs 2 years in a row when they played them early. Lost 4-6 in 2022 (Rd 1) and 15-14 in 2023 (Rd 5). Off the back of 3 wins from them games if they can jag that, they play Manly, Knights and Tigers. With the boys full of confidence they will surely be a chance of winning those 3 as well back in Sydney. We can only hope.

If we can jag those 3 wins at the start of the comp I will be ecstatic.
