Well at least our annual round 1 failure is against a team we may not beat under normal circumstances anyways.

So many questions to be answered by the Broncos

How is Reynolds going to pull up this year (he's lost 2 grand finals in 3 years now, and a year older)
The 2 teams before them to lose a GF had ordinary seasons following years (Parra and Souths)
They are arguably weaker this year. How do they adjust??
Is Walsh a flash in the pan, or can he step up for the full season and play to his reputation.

Then there is everyone's favourite February Premiers in the Roosters.
Better roster, but a few players on their last chances (JWH, Teddy?, Sualii, Manu, Keary).

I think the Roosters get this one, and if they click, probably by some margin.

Real battle of the under privileged and battlers this one.

In all seriousness, even accounting for Brisbane’s losses not sure Roosters could have improved enough over one off season so get close to them here. They can win but Broncos would need to be off their game by quite a margin.

Rocco treats the first month of the season like a preseason so I expect us to get rolled here.

Curve ball though is going to be the skinny field. It’s effectively 10% narrower than the usual field so expansive footy is not really an option and I think is a bit of an equaliser.

This Year?

Brisbane's road to ridemshun starts here against a city they've both admired and hated since their admission into the comp.

I want to tip an upset. Broncos young players are the most likely to be seduced by the bright lights of Vegas.

Roosters are an appalling round 1 team. Unless Robbo pulls his finger out then I have to say Broncos.

Our off season losses have more or less been replaced by like for like players. Farnworth for Cobbo, Flegler for Jenson/Willison, Capewell for Piakura. I doubt their absence will have as much of an impact as most think, unless one of them has a complete mare.

The smaller field will effect the Roosters more imo, interested to see how the Broncos react to last year heartbrake. Think they get it done here but nothing would surprise

Experienced depth will be an issue later in the season

I heard an old timer say roosters pack be strong if Crichton is on the bench. I say they have 3 starting forwards who wouldn’t start at cowboys or broncos

I think piakura will get in the way in attack. They will miss cape well a lot
