Mr Thadius you said you want the best half back in the souths ranks right now and that is ilias well the best half back in the souths ranks right now would be Jack wighton remember he won a Dally M at #6 mate.

Good heavens I was prepared to cut you some slack because you sound young and that's fine, but I have come to the conclusion that you are dead set divvie!

Read and learn ok. You spoke of Coleman and Field in the same sentence to which I responded: "Loved Tugger as a player and Souths man and last time I heard of the "pixie" he not long got out of the "big house" for reasons that shall be kept under wraps."

Now it's not hard, but it's pretty obvious I spoke of Coleman first and Field (pixie) second, and in the same sentence so even a junior school kid would realise I was talking of both.

But back to the football. Wighton is not a halfback, he may have played there briefly, but I have always seen him as a centre or 5/8 and I suggest to you, most people would see him that way as well. I also believe he can play fullback if needed but Souths view him as centre first, 5/8 second and a fullback third. We are very weak in the centres just in case you have not noticed.

Irgo, Ilias is the best halfback in the Club and I hope he returns asap if Gray is not given a shot - for all our sakes.

I love Illias but there is way too much pressure on this team right now for him to be playing number 7. He has the potential to be such a good halfback but he overthinks things and doesnt get the small stuff right. he's always thinking two steps ahead in the game which causes him to do silly stuff like kick it out on the full or drop it at first receiver. In my opinion thats fatigue and pressure just getting to him.

Dean Hawkins won NSW player of the year in 2023 and led the cup team to win the whole thing. Im glad that he's getting a shot before we do the whole Wighton/Walker experiment.

We have so many good players underperforming right now and if we lose this week the supporters can stop heaping shit onto Illias.

One good thing about dropping Illias is that Hawkins probably has the best kicking game at the club and will hopefully goal kick for us. Latrell is very on and off in that regard.

Good stuff. BTW, people are laughing their balls off about the article about other clubs lining up to sign Hawkins.

It's his manager talking and nothing else. Souths only gave him a one year extension, he's goneski.

Tyran Smith is his agent, for a south’s Jnr he loves to move his clients away from south’s. Let him move Hawkins on also.

When I saw the heading about other clubs lining up to "sign Souths young gun" I thought hell no, it's Gray!

Then I read further and giggled.

I reckon it's worth looking into BB&B.

He's strong and tackles like a demon.
I can see what he's saying, the service out of dummy half would be better, (Cook has been and still is poor in this regard) but a lack (at the moment) of a strong running game sort of negates it. However, this is something that can be developed.

They might be lining up to get a backup, to cover for injuries and SOO selections.
So mostly reserve grade.
Not as a starter.

Friday August 12th 2022. Hawkins replaced Ilias in the Souths team. Souths won 26-0 vs Parra at Commbank Stadium. Parra finished top 4 and made the Grand Final that year
Awesome, but let’s look at the stats for Dean…

runs: 2
Metres gained: 13
Line breaks: 0
Line break assists: 0
Tackles: 26
Missed tackles: 2
Ineffective tackles: 3
Kicks: 10
Metres from kick: 240
Forced drop outs: 0
Errors: 0
Try assist: 1

while not a bad game, he still didn’t add anything extra to the attack. 5 tries were scored, apart from the 1 assist he wasn’t involved in much else in the attack for scoring our points that night.

His superior kicking game only averaged 24m per kick that night. Cody kicked for 333m also who is weak as piss with a kicking game.

Cody is way way better than hawkins at #7 and wighton is way way better than cody at #6 so a wighton #6/ walker #7 makes sense right? So just imagine if souths were in this year's grand final so why would you not put wighton in to partner cody walker in the halves when wighton has won a Clive Churchill medal and a Dally M medal work that one out?why use hawkins on Friday night? Its a no-brainer here wighton/walker for me!

Breaking News: A little bird called me today and said he was watching ilias having a session of long range 40/20 kicks by himself at heffron Park at maroubra alone yesterday and apparently he got one successful 40/20 kick from twenty attempted kicks that says it all...

You all need to quit this useless imbroglio rabbittin'..... Back & forth.. he said, I said,I want him, blah blah blah.
How about all true supporters of this grande old club stand up, focus and wish the squad well against Easts, root for Hawkins and every other player to actually perform well and Win. Its a critical game and we all need to be positive about it. Or else follow somebody else, you have options.
