Whats wrong with gagai?
I don’t know. The only thing I can think of. Is he isn’t apart of the top 30 and still only a DP contract which means we can’t play him until after a certain date. (We may have gotten special compensation for Vegas due to the injury issues)

I went to training this morning.

This was the first time I've been to a training session that wasn't a captains run so it was really cool to see them do a full session. They did a full opposed session, basically playing a game with full contact. However, it was scenario based, the coaches would get them to start at one point of the field and they went from there. They'd do this for an eight-minute period, then have a break and come together for a debrief, they did this about 6 times throughout the session.

I must say, it all looked pretty good to me. The physicality was pretty up there, they really ripped into each other, and it was an intense session. I was impressed with the energy on show and there was that much chat out there, it was hard to tell what anyone was actually saying but I guess that's a good sign.

Izaac will play left wing in place of AJ; he trained there today.

Expect Pete to be in the 17 as he did half the session at hooker so we could see a split dummy half role between he and Cooky.

Keppie will take over Shaq's position.

Otherwise, it looks to be the same side as last week.

Cody looked pretty sharp in this session, he threw some great balls to Wighton and it looks like their combination is starting to gel.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie Wighton for the first time and we had a good chat. What a guy, such a great bloke. He recognised my Kiwi accent, asked where I was from, and he actually remembers New Plymouth, my hometown, because he played there against the Warriors in 2016. That was pretty cool.

All in all, it was a pretty good session, great to watch.

Love ya work callmack.
Thompson gives the backline some extra size, just hope Keppie gets his hands in order.

Wahs are very good at establishing good field position and putting on crisp block plays on both sides but love going to DWZ on their right where Thompson will now be standing. We are not good at defending the stock standard block play let alone the triple block play they are finely tuned at throwing at you at speed. Will we continue to jam rather than slide? Maybe Jack can cut off that final or second last pass but if they get enough shots at our line, they will put some points on. Meanwhile Roger versus Tass on the other side. Good luck.

I'm more hopeful than confident. The Wahs are now a powerhouse team..

Team list Tuesday babyyyyyyy!!!

Gotta be happy with that side considering who we have out. The expected guys are in to replace AJ and Shaq. Otherwise, it's an unchanged team for the Wahs, as it should be.

I was at training again today. The session was much the same as Tuesday's in terms of what they did and the intensity of it. This session today was probably longer though.

I hate to say it, but after looking sharp on Tuesday, they looked sloppy today. Quite a bit of dropped ball and misdirected passes. A few really nice plays that they executed well, but overall, it was sloppy.

Cody looked good though, he threw some beautiful balls.

Also, it looks like Davvy won't be playing, he trained with the reserves team the whole time. I'd say Pete will come in as he was wearing red and him and Cooky shared the role.

I’d rather Davy over Keppie but saying that. I’d also be happy with a rotation of some of these bench guys that they go back and play bigger minutes in Reggie’s every 3 or so games to get their game time and stamina up

I'm confused in regard to the make-up of our bench after training today.

It looks to be,

Mamouzelos
Chee Kam
Duncan
Keppie

But I don't like that at all. Especially against a big pack in the Warriors and after JD finally got his bench selections right last week. We need at least two big bodies in there. It doesn't make sense but that's how it looks.

I'm also going to the captain's run tomorrow so might get a clearer picture then.

Also, there was a question on another forum about how the coaches responded to the errors. They didn't really. It was just pick the ball up, go back to where you dropped it, and go from there. However, I couldn't hear the discussion after each eight minute period, and JD looked pretty animated at one stage so that could have been pulling them up. All coaches were very vocal in giving it to any player slacking off and walking though, even when transitioning through the drills. I liked that.

Warriors pack is also weakened with the withdrawal of Niukore on top of losing Capewell. They've replaced him with Harris-Tevita on the bench with Bunty starting and Barnett going to edge so that makes them a little weaker in the middle third and counters our dropping Davvy for Pete.

It's a day game and if the weather is dry (will the "rain bomb" be over by tomorrow?), could be a more open game requiring more mobile players and fewer fatigued logs in the middle to get stepped around by the likes of SJ and Roger.

Also, DWZ is out and replaced by Pompey who is bigger but slower and maybe a better match up for Izaac.

Having a plan to move their big pack around in the wet is all well and good but you need a bit of speed and genuine threats off the bench to do that. Pete is good, but I don't see him as a genuine threat at first grade level yet. Tallis is the only one on the bench who might really trouble them. That game plan also means our completion rate and execution has to be top notch.

Big blows for the Warriors.

Well here we are just about Game Day once again. As we head into round 5 it’s great to have another home game at Accor and Saturday arvo footy is great. Our members and fans have been asking for more day games yet when we get them which is rarely the issue is they still don’t turn up. Now I know the weather isn’t gonna be good on Saturday but when has a little bit of rain hurt anyone! There is plenty of places to get undercover at Accor. Now I know we probs will only get about 10-11k but I would love to see a crowd upwards of 15k out there the boys need our support. And let’s show we really like our afternoon footy! I know the Warriors have a number of fans in Sydney too and they’ll turn up it would be embarrassing if there was a 50/50 split of members and fans there. We last played the Warriors in about round 18-19 I think it was in NZ last year in a very wet game and won 28-6. We could see similar conditions this time around. The Warriors fans are very loud too and we are meant to be the oldest loudest and proudest I can say happily we are the oldest and proudest but certainly not the loudest. Last week apart from the Burrow you could hear a pin drop on the players side tunnel that noise from our members just no longer there no South Sydney chant nothing no passion. When the Bulldogs chant went up around Accor you could hear it on both sides of the ground. So cmon Souths members let’s bring that noise back our home games let’s be the boys 18th man let show our passion. Lets get back to being the loudest if everyone contributes we can do that!

Looking at the Warriors we have had the wood on them 14 of the last 15 times I think we have beat them let’s hope that keeps up. The Warriors as we know have Webster as coach who I really rate and he took them to the top 4 last year. They’re such a strong side all over the park with good depth. They’re coming into this with a 2 and 2 record so they’ll be hungry to go 3 and 2. They played the Knights last week and whilst their attack was a bit off their defence was very good. They really work hard for one another as well. Whilst Metcalf and Capewell are out they have enough depth to cover that. They get a big boost in CNK coming back from injury too. They have RTS and DWZ to cause havoc out wide. SJ and TMM form a strong halves combo. SJ kicking game has been on song and he’s playing really well at the back end of his career creating lots in attack as well. Then up front they have big AFB and Tohu plus Niukore, Ford, Barnett etc… then they have a strong bench who come on and do their thing too. They have threats all over the park.

Looking at us we are coming in with a 1 and 3 record. We had a gritty win last weekend against the Dogs. But the pressure is still on. Last week means nothing if we can’t back it up this week. Looking at our team losing AJ is a big blow with Thompson coming in. We lose Shaq with HIA as well with Keppie coming back in. We are without Campbell, Munro, AJ, Arrow, Havili and Shaq so our depth is certainly being tested. But we have a good enough side out there to get the job done. I am a bit worried the Warriors will catch us for pace on the edges but I think the heavy rain they predict would help us to negate that speed. For us though it all starts with completion rate again we need to complete highly to have a chance and in the middle our pack has to lift. Our pack was a bit better last week but we need to go up a notch this week. Tom and Tats have to start strong and we will need big games from Keaon, Hosty and Cam again. Then we will need Moale, Duncan and Keppie to bring it off the bench. Do that and we give Cody, Trell and Wighton the chance to put some plays on for us. In this weather the kicking game will be important so we need Hawko to stand up in that regard. We need more from Cody too he’s been well down on form and he must lift this week. Defensively we are gonna have to be on right across the park too otherwise the Warriors will hurt us. Limiting offloads will also be important as will our discipline which needs to be much better than last week. Another area we need to improve on is our kick chase and line speed cmon Souths show some bloody enthusiasm in those effort areas.

Not long until the players come onto Accor Stadium here on this wet Saturday afternoon. But still great to see so much red and green in those stands let’s make sure we can hear that this arvo lets get that South Sydney going for the full 80mins this arvo at Accor Stadium. Let’s make sure everyone at home watching or wherever watching knows this is South Sydney home turf and a South Sydney home game! Lets do everything we can to get our boys home this afternoon and get those vital 2 competition points.
