With regards to signings, I believe the following is on play:

Bud to Tigers > KF to Dragons.

Hunt will play 7, Amone 6 and KF 14
If Amone's court case isn't favouable:
Hunt 7, KF 6 (+ gk option) and CM to 14.
During SOO, or injury to Hunt we could see KF 7, CM 6 (with a move to cover 9) and one of the juniors probably Herring at 14.

If Hunt stays and commits to see out his contract then we have some halves with first grade experience to slot straight in.

This is just my thesis on what may happen.

Kyle Flannagan has not been signed so I would not be including him just yet. I cannot see Cody Ramsay playing again unfortunately. What he has is a pretty serious illness unfortunately for the poor kid. If he does play in 2024 he will be like a new signing as I rate him. Amone is the big one with this damn court case hanging over his head. Hopefully we find out this week some outcome.

Buzz reported that Hunt is settled and staying on, the same guy that confidently said Bud will be lacing his boots in Belmore in 2024. Probably the same guy feeding rumours of Kyle Flanno being a done deal.

If Manly lose this week they are 100% no chance of finals, hopefully they can release Flanno this weekend (which I doubt) but surely his workload will drop off so he can work of the roster for the Dragons.

Shawn? Former Penrith junior, Junior Kangaroo. A strong runner and defender with an offload. Flanagan should be able to bring out better than he has given the Tigers..

Wanted us to get him two years ago. IMHO he'd be a good mentor for our young forwards.

Agree but also disagree Re Blore

If Blore had one ACL reco or none he would be viewed very differently vs his 2 x ACL recos

Blore will be gunning for a 2 or 3 year contract like Birdy did which was remarkable.

Blore has had two ACL recos ie one on each knee and that has a massive impact on what we or any other club including the tigers are will to shell out and for how long.

But I do like his potential and line running is strong so maybe become a fisher Harris type transition from backrower to front row ??

Before you guys start apeing in on players to sign, remember we technically only have 2 spots to fill from our 'signed' players roster.

Yes, it is believed Bud has signed with the Tigers. But until confirmed by us or the Tigers (ie: official announcement), he's still on our books.

The players 'tapped' are still contracted for '24 and would need to secure longer-term deals elsewhere before moving on. Otherwise we are stuck with them for next year.

It's why Flanno has said '24 will be hard to access, but has greater scope for '25.

I'm not convinced Hint will be here in '24, even after the 'pledge' yesterday.

Which brings me to the next point, and that is our salary cap. We aren't privy to know exactly the state of it, as it stands. Obviously retaining players and having to recruit players is a balancing act, one which I'm not sure Haran has a good handle on. Front loaded, backlogged, players with ratchet clauses, players without ratchet clauses, players used from outside the top 30 etc all have significant impact on our ability to sign 'big name' players.

In saying that, which 'big name' would want to come to club struggling avoid the 'spoon' when they couldceasily be picked up by a 'top 8' club? This then becomes, what I call "the Bulldogs syndrome", over paid players, who are just looking to line their pockets, rather that playing for the 'badge' and doing so on past glories.

So unless our tapped boys move on, we are very restricted on who we can sign and how many we can sign, and that doesn't include retention issues if and when they pop up.
agree 100% DS , ive mentioned this a few times that the musgroves bmm etc need to get picked up so that flanno can sign some better talent and we can hopefully start the improvement we just havent got enough empty spots available to really have a mini clean out but im sure flanno will work around it

I wonder if he had not had that dust up with Rava whether we'd be offloading this bloke. His stats suggest he is first grade standard as do his on field exploits so hoping he is not picked up by anyone else and he gets to play out his contract, preferably in Firsts.
