Let us be positive to try to put another annis horriblis behind us.

We now have a premiership winning coach that knows how to target a good player worthy of wearing the RedV.

We have a hi performance coach with an enviable reputation. After all he got us into the condition needed to win the 2010 premiership.

We have players primed to take the big stage now and and an exciting group of juniors in the future.

We will be jettisoning players that have not been up to first grade standard, with the hope that their replacements will be in both offense and defense.
Love it. Glass half full the only way to live life BG ! I’d rather be a Pollyanna than a manic depressive.

Do you think flanno should try for drew Hutchison as our 14 for next year.he is off contract and could be a handy cheap backup, thoughts everyone
Met Drew earlier in the year he’s a good bloke certainly had a great game against the Dolphins scoring 2 tries. He started his career at the Dragons but suffered many injuries, but worked hard and now is a true NRL player.

Drew would be a good signing for us. He has matured a lot and has gained precious experience under the coaching of Trent Robinson. He would indeed be a handy backup.

So Flanno alluded to two more middles and two outside backs and a utility?

In the mix:

Sele confirmed 3yr contract
McLean
Blore
Taniele Sadrugu Burns you would expect to stay?
Russell maybe also?

Half triangle - Flanno jnr or Townsend ?

Backs I have no idea

He’s a big unit and looks like a handy player with that offload. I could see Sloan running onto one of those passes. Possibility if Young has any influence

The forgotten man

Would he be on our radar as I think he is out of contract for 2024?

112kg and could play the game

The two Manly boys are unproven and have had injuries.
Russell doesn't have much in attack..
Burns could be ok with a better team around him.

Before you guys start apeing in on players to sign, remember we technically only have 2 spots to fill from our 'signed' players roster.

Yes, it is believed Bud has signed with the Tigers. But until confirmed by us or the Tigers (ie: official announcement), he's still on our books.

The players 'tapped' are still contracted for '24 and would need to secure longer-term deals elsewhere before moving on. Otherwise we are stuck with them for next year.

It's why Flanno has said '24 will be hard to access, but has greater scope for '25.

I'm not convinced Hint will be here in '24, even after the 'pledge' yesterday.

Which brings me to the next point, and that is our salary cap. We aren't privy to know exactly the state of it, as it stands. Obviously retaining players and having to recruit players is a balancing act, one which I'm not sure Haran has a good handle on. Front loaded, backlogged, players with ratchet clauses, players without ratchet clauses, players used from outside the top 30 etc all have significant impact on our ability to sign 'big name' players.

In saying that, which 'big name' would want to come to club struggling avoid the 'spoon' when they couldceasily be picked up by a 'top 8' club? This then becomes, what I call "the Bulldogs syndrome", over paid players, who are just looking to line their pockets, rather that playing for the 'badge' and doing so on past glories.

So unless our tapped boys move on, we are very restricted on who we can sign and how many we can sign, and that doesn't include retention issues if and when they pop up.
