2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

Just for your information ‘post game’ means the game was over. It had stopped. The number of viewers dropped because there was no football left to watch. The ball was no longer in play. There were no more kicks or tackles. The referees and players had clocked off. It’s not unusual in those circumstances for people to stop watching. I typed that slowly so you could understand it. Sleep well little man.

There was still play at 9.30.

hence why I compared 8pm-9.30pm

TV ratings are done across 15min blocks, These are then averaged across the length of that program.

This gives you the figure. It isn't that 3.4m people watched every second of the game.

The word AVERAGE is key here

That’s why it’s an average. Now settle petal. For a game to average 3.44 million over its entirety means a great percentage kept watching for a long period. It’s the only think that makes sense. This will be one of the top 5 rating shows this year. I have no idea what your point is and to be frank I don’t think you know either. Sadly you appear to be quite stupid.

Where did I say a great percent didn't keep watching?

What I said was some would of dropped off. A closer game for game 2 and the ratings will be even higher particularly in Melbourne as they are hosting it

Good grief then just say so. 3.44 million is massive. The fact it held that average despite the late game blow out is a huge result for the game. Close games in recent years have not gone within 10% of that average. It’s a terrific reflection on the state of the game.

I never said that 3.44 million watched the game from end to end. I said it was an average r and it’s a huge result for the nrl and the games sponsors.

The Matildas game that got 7.1 million viewers not the International friendly that sold out in 4 days. Keep up Buster
You are comparing a once in 30-40 year event where the Matilda’s are playing at a home World Cup in prime time and are competitive to an annual 3 game series ! You soccer fanboys crack me up. Remember when the A league was going to take over the NRL, now it’s on life support next to union

FMD this debate is boring as batcrap

we know how averages are calculated

Correct and a vast majority of the 5.3m reach would actually of watched the game. You probably take 10% off for those just 'checking the score'

I don't think 4.5m watching to start the game is unrealistic a figure to draw from the numbers

Origin should be targeting 4 to 5 million viewers per game with decent marketing

if it was streamed with Fox that would help coverage hugely

Reach figures show the game is getting that, How to get viewers to stay longer is the issue.

Ideally it would start earlier but no doubt TV wants to have 2m people watching at 10pm to sneak some ads in after the game.

Game 2 being in Melbourne should help with the numbers down there. A closer game is ideal but can't always promise that

Better coverage

i would love to see a poll of people who like vs dislike their coverage

it’s it’s not 90 percent dislike I’ll be surprised
