More than double the super league grand final (on pay only)

Does the cup final get those numbers ?
Interesting how England has a lot more interest in the international game like that. Next years games against Australia should do really well. If they’re actually competitive (or do I even dream of them winning) it could rate really f**king well. Hope this encourages more teams travelling to England.

Internationals are on the bbc so get a big potential audience

CC cup final is up around 1mill I think? Thats still great numbers for an England game though.
Yeah they are great numbers, especially given the awful crowd numbers and seemingly lack of atmosphere around the Tongan and Samoan tours.
With Oz touring next year and Kiwis` in 2028 should see even better numbers and hopefully lay the platform for more interest when the second tier teams tour again in 2029.
Good news for the Poms all round in hopefully revitalising interest in northern hemisphere Rugby League.

I wouldnt say awful crowd numbers, relatively speaking. they were around double the avg SL crowd number.

Yes it appears we are in a rebuilding phase of international Rugby League and certainly looking at it from the point of view that it was double the SL average is a positive and interesting take.
My main concern was whether the Island nations, given the lack of buzz, will want to keep going up there because England can`t rely on Oz and NZ for their only incoming opponents.
That`s why I was so pleased with the ratings it got, it does suggest a fair bit of casual interest that may be converted to match day fans for future tours.

Well they wont have to decide for a few years.
25 is Aus touring, 26 RLWC, 27 NZ touring.
It'll be 2028 before they get chance again at the earliest.

Reality is its only going to be a RLWC or a test series v Aus that gets the really big crowds in UK.
Crowds around the 18-20k mark should be the target for NZ, and the other 2 nations imo.

Nah after the ashes tour the poms have to grow a set and start holding at least the nz games in big stadiums 40 to 70k and stop holding them at club grounds

Its such a budget look for the game

not as bad a look as 18k in a 40-70k stadium gives the game

Just need some other Northern Hemisphere countries to become competitive like France.
Really just France. England really need a competitive team in the NH hemisphere to make them less reliant on teams travelling from the SH. Would allow them to have much more frequent international competition.

Two results for England Women this year - England 82 Wales 0 and France 0 England 42. Encapsulates our dilemma. Far too good for anyone in the NH, but expected to struggle next year against the Jillaroos.

Several Welsh players were missing due to RU commitments. Wales beat Netherlands to qualify for the 2026 WC. The tournament will take place at roughly the same time of year i.e. during the NH Union season. Can only hope a way is found for all their players to make themselves available for selection. Otherwise, Welsh involvement will be a travesty. Any one of Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Cook Islands would destroy the team Wales fielded at Headingley on Saturday.

It seems that a difference between the UK and Australia (or maybe it's just BBC vs nine) is that they like the afternoon timeslot. Rather than nighttime.
I wonder if next year vs Australia they would play at midday. Depending on the week this would mean 10pm or 11pm in Sydney. Surely it would be worth nine contributing money to make it worthwhile for the RFL.
