2025 Crowd Watch

Messages

The inaugural Gadhu Gathering ends with an aggregate crowd of 65,899 over three games for an average of 21,966 (51.7% of capacity).

Overall, that is a pass mark for the event's debut...but that is in large thanks to the good Roosters/Bulldogs crowd on Friday night.

Next year I would like to see:
- More promotion of the event by the National Rugby League
- More promotion of the event by the clubs (excluding the Roosters' marketing team who did God's work)
- 2-day passes made available
- Scheduled on a different weekend to Broncos/Dolphins to stimulate more interstate interest
- Potentially substitute Manly out to facilitate a Tigers/Dragons game

And from 2027 onwards, I like the idea of reintroducing Manly with a clash vs the Bears as part of a Sunday double header.

Last year the same three games a combined aggregate of 43,590.

Today's crowd was a bit disappointing, though didn't help Manly fans didn't buy into it (less than 100 tickets sold into the Manly supporter bay)
Thanks mate. It’s a good concept and I’m sure they’ll keep with it.

If they keep Manly in the line up, they should get special buses from the Northern Beaches direct to Moore Park, or just extend the B Line buses to Moore Park from the city. It would make going to New Allianz from the Northern Beaches more accessible on match day

I like it. Could even brand special event buses to Moore Park as either E-Line (for event services) or M-Line (for Moore Park services). You could run them via the SHB and Cahill Expressway or via the SHT direct to the Moore Park Bus Interchange.

The lack of promotion from the NRL & five of the six participants was disappointing overall for a new event and even the NSW Government, who were helping fund it, did very little to take advantage of the concept.

I really like the suggestion of swapping Manly with the Dragons, it makes sense having the five 'bigger' Sydney teams take part.

On the ticketing, agree with offering two day passes, as well they should take a book out of Magic and offer it across all bays (or at least more bays) and not just GA on Level 2 north.

Pricing potentially needs to be looked at as well. People will pay $90 for an important game, unfortunately neither Saturday or Sunday's were that important in the scheme of things. There's no reason why they couldn't adopt some form of dynamic pricing strategy based upon game importance & pre-sales.

Overall the concept showed promise though.

The 3rd fixture being tigers/dragons is essential IMO. They probably get 20k there any round of the year

Considering the Rabbitohs vs Eels game last night was 13th vs 16th, the 21000+ attendance was very good. Not great, but better than would be expected for such a clash.
This weekend event has loads of potential.

Reckon we’ll be lucky to hit 125000 next round. Next two will be solid particularly round 27 which should hit 180000.

Just imagine if we didn't have the constant bad weather bombarding on us for months on end, what the averages would be really like

Legit.

Roosters/Souths game could be huge in R27 if a spot in the finals is on the line for the Roosters, AND Alex Johnston’s attempt to equal or break the all time try record is in play. Pity he didn’t bag a try last night to inch closer.
A lot of it comes to Storm vs Roosters in R26... if the Storm win that, then it's almost certain the Roosters will need to win Round 27 to make the finals. Game should absolutely be a sell-out.
