Ison season

We are losing our backs long term

If Kennedy gets injured we have some issues.
Atkinson
Mulitalo

Hynes

They would have to be the options

Kade Dykes

He's not named anywhere, uncle.
The club has been very quiet on what's happening with him.

As Frenzy and a couple of others have mentioned elsewhere, I think they are taking a very cautious approach with him, given his recent injury history.

As much as I would like to see it happen, I wouldn't be holding my breath on seeing him in firsts any time soon.

A mate of mine (playing Union for Bond University on the Gold Coast) did his ACL in late 2022. He then came back in early 2024 and promptly did the other ACL. He is only 25, but just cannot mentally and emotionally face the possibility of yet another comeback, even though he has been declared physically fit to play.

It is extremely hard to keep persevering under these types of circumstances.

Any word on Max Bradbury?
He's not been listed anywhere this year either.

According to Fitzy Hazo isn't too far away (suggesting he might not be back next week), and Toby, Colquhuon and Dykes are all training and aren't too far away.

With Ison out for the year I wonder if Dykes will slot straight into fullback for NSWCup.

For those that have seen a bit of him, is Dykes more of a fullback or 5/8? It's odd he seems to have been a fullback coming through but most people see him as more of a halves option.

I think from what I’ve read, @Inferno, it’s more the other way around. He played five eighth coming through but got switched to the back once he started playing in the senior sides.

At any rate, good news he’s seemingly not far off.
Fingers crossed he has a good run and gets back to a level where he’s competing for a spot in firsts.

SHARKS FACE DOUBLE FORWARD BLOW

Cronulla will be without enforcer Braden Hamlin-Uele to face Canterbury on Saturday night, while Siofia Talakai is deemed a 50-50 chance to play due to an ankle injury.

Scans have confirmed Hamlin-Uele suffered a knee cartilage injury in Saturday’s win over South Sydney and the Sharks have not yet ruled out the possibility of surgery, but he is expected to miss multiple weeks depending on the course of treatment.

Despite fears otherwise, Talakai has been cleared of a major ankle injury and is a chance to play the Bulldogs at Shark Park depending on how he trains this week.

Hohepa Puru was named as 18th man last week and is among the options to come onto the bench.

Recently re-signed prop Tom Hazelton hasn’t played since Round 1 in Las Vegas with a minor back issue, but is also an option if deemed fit to return.

Good news re Sifa…. Even if he doesn’t play against the dogs. Happy to see Puru get a shot if Sifa is out….reckon he’d have a red hot go. BHU…meh. Always liked the skill-set of the big fella but I feel his days in the top 17 here are numbered. Once we’re at full strength with Toby JC and Tommy and Sifa back he is surplus to needs other than in an injury crisis. ATM id rather see Tuks get his limited minutes.
