Chin was MOM in Game 2, 2020 and Game 2, 2022. Both at a younger age than JT in either of those matches.

Joey (from memory) didn't really become a match-turning player in Origin until 2000, when he was brought in to replace Kimmorley for Game 2 in Brisbane. He was 26 at that point.
Remind me how he went in both those game 3s when in the former his saviour went off injured and the latter QLD forwards actually turned up?

The key to JTs MOTMs was that they were A) in tight games and he was legit the difference and B) they formed part of WINNING series.

No one looks better than Nathan when the skiing is downhill though.

myth was busted in origin and got carried FINALLY to a series win

Cleary is arguably the best player to have ever played the game, and he was injured this match. He has been fine in SoO.

the problem with origin, is we get plodders that we can't get rid of
The middle part is my exact point.

Arguably the best player ever but 'fine' at origin. He doesn't perform near his standard at the level.

Would you use the same wording to describe the origin careers of any of the below?

Daley
Fitler
Johns
Teddy (Peace be upon him)
JT
Lockyer
Cronk
Slater
Smith
GI
Lewis
Beetson

That is the company he is allegedly keeping.

Nathan Cleary has played exactly 2 bad games for NSW and last night was one of them. Picking a 7 with a compromised leg is f**king ridiculous

I mean Cleary is the best 7 in the game by a lot but he doesn't step up in Origin games.

Tbh I think fewer and fewer players do, because the concept is staler than a can of XXXX and players don't even hate each other anymore, plus they are all in with massively increased club commitments with the way the season has lengthened, more teams have been added, etc etc

That's right, at the time there were naysayers who reckoned if Joey was so good, he'd get picked at #7 instead of being picked out of position at rep level.
Whoever came up with that idea to put Johns at 9 was a genius. He dominated that 1996 series physically dominating the Maroons forwards in defence and set up tries in attack. He pretty much was the chief playmaker who defended in the middle.

Can we focus on the worst play of the match? Watch Connor Watson's work with 10 minutes to go.

Went short side three times. After the first one starts barking further orders at Stephen Crichton. Goes there twice more when the play isn't on. His final attempt a beautiful pass to no one that meekly rolled into touch.

It took a bunch of Panthers to drag NSW back into that match. But it only took one Rooster to f**k it all up again.

Now that's a play Mitchell Pearce would be proud of.

Surely analysing all 8 penalties would be required to ensure that is a fair comment to make? Like I agree, game management by referees absolutely happens, but I also don't like how coaches will go 'they smashed us in the penalty count' like it's actually meant to be even, no matter how good or bad your discipline is.

Yep 3 were for foul play and 1 was for the Stefano obstruction.

You can't just look at the total and say "see they are biased".

Watson is an energizer bunny crossed with a headless chicken. Roosters have improved him but he was at his directionless best last night.

Pair him with Tedesco and its like watching two kids on a sugar high at Timezone with a bucket of tokens in their hands. Absolute circus.

The key is to pick more Panthers. Korisau for Watson game 3.

NSW (and Cleary) were dominating game 3 2022 when Topou inexplicably knocked on a nothing clearing kick with two minutes go before half time.

QLD scored off the set following the scrum.

Could barely touch the ball the second half with the NSW forwards dogging it and letting Burton be held by Tino to get hit by Gagai.
