Yet both teams completed at 78%.

Canberra smashed the Warriors but had 69%

It was a pretty high standard round 1 game
It was decent game because it was close. Cronulla were pretty ordinary I thought and Penrith were only slightly better but came up with the bigger plays when it mattered.

It was ok but it wasn’t anything special.

What do expect for round 1?

There were great tries scored. Some great try saver

But would Nicho have handled the pressure we put Kennedy under? I dunno, and if not at fb what do you do with him?

That is the issue at a million plus a year you are sort of forced into playing him. Watch this contract force Atkinson out and clubs are not dumb he's too good a talent to be a 'reserve' half. Plenty of clubs need quality halves.

Penrith did what they needed to do that's all they need to do nothing more or less, they don't need to be at their peak save that for finals. It's the one thing with having a great side, they know what they need to win, why spend more energy than that, it was a solid round 1 workout for them. Cronulla went as expected, I still have no idea why people keep rating them, they never beat good sides so what has changed? They bought a prop who is elite yes, but that is it. They are still playing a C grade FB, a below average halfback, and an okay at best hooker. That's 3/4 of their spine!

Atkinson has already signed 3 year deal with Dragon's starting 2026.

There we go, missed that news. So you play Hynes and lose Atkinson. Good one.

Atkinson will be 25 next year and hasn't played that much first grade.

I would have liked to keep him, but I'm not overly upset we've lost him either. He's solid enough but I don't know that he'll be a superstar.

He is more likely than Hynes at a third the price which means you are saving money- go out and upgrade other positions
