Well, after being completely blown away in the 1st half by the Sharks who were on fire, playing faster and dominating in attack and defence, to finish the game with a respectful score line of 27-12 showed great character and fight by the boys.

We have finished all 3 games well so far this season with the last 2 being draining day games in sunny, hot conditions.

Still, we were completely outclassed despite the effort to save the score board from being a complete embarrassment.

So.... They get blown off the park by the Sharks forwards, the Sharks back 5 destroyed our edges and....it's Cody's fault?

The hate runs strong here......
Cody was rocks and diamonds today. But at least there were a few diamonds. He and Jack bombed a few opportunities though. They were up against it of course.

Their forwards blew us off the park, both in attack and defense.
Keppie was the only one in the first half making some headway, and poking through the line.

Our back 5 (excluding Gray) was very poor, especially out right side. Rawalawa needs to be put in reserve grade, terrible, out of position.
Like WTF is he standing 20 meters in, and leaving 3 on his outside?

That 100 meter try was his fault for being out of position, and for the whole right side for no kick chase when Cody put the kick into the in goal.

There were no chasers. He was the first one there, and only one in the picture. It didn't help that Stretch was late getting there, and then missed the tackle to allow the ball runner to swing it wide.

The whole forward pack, with the exception of Keppie, got blown off the park. The game was already over at HT.

But you keep looking for your scapegoat. It was the same with you last season.

I didn't blame the whole game on Cody and Wighton I actually said they weren't earning their paychecks and that Humphreys and Gray are much better players and deserve their salaries.

Yeah, certainly the chase was lacking on that occasion and I don't know that they were expecting the kick. Cody could have made that tackle and it's a drop out but Mulitalo shook him off and we were suddenly all at sea and out of position. Broken field or "chaos" play. Good sides who have played together for many games know instintively where to be and snap into action. Rava still doesn't know all our players names yet so he will get better at learning the ropes surely.

I thought he did quite well for most of the game apart from some of those long range runs that were not just on him.

100 metre try was actually Cody's fault for not sticking to the tackle lol

Never really in this from the outset. Given the betting trends and early poor decisions [or perhaps pre-arranged via Sutton] its not a terrible ending. Did not get destroyed when it appeared thus. Plus we won Half II always a good sign when it aint your day.
The squad should learn and benefit, personally I'm still on the up for their season. Ravalawa's effort in almost scoring would likely have changed momentum. Decision was touch and go, good effort by him just failed. Combined with the 100m score that killed the squad, despite their slugging effort on another steamy, dry early game.
Burt must still be confident given we took their best shots at their dumpey ground and still were standing despite being sans key personnel. Plus Ravalawa will get better as will the lads who missed last season or more.
On Jack W. He needs to get more involved squad needs his thrust and aggression. I expect Burt will ask more of him and soon get it. Perhaps Mitchell's return will help. For all Gray's courage and effort he is not Mitchell but it will be uplifting to see them BOTH in action simultaneously soon.

The Sharks are a very settled and matured side now, having played together for a few seasons now and added a seasoned gun prop in AFB to top it off.

We are on the rebuild with a stack of salary cap on the sidelines but still shaping well despite our first loss of the season.

Typical of a Wayne Bennett side, we fought till the end and never threw in the towel when it looked like a thrashing was odds-on.

Where was the kick chase Supercoach?
Look I'll agree that our kick chase was abysmal for the majority of the night. Sharks were way better in the kick chase and just their overall fitness but I still think Cody is struggling to keep up with the pace of first grade. I'd probably say the same for Wighton. We need to start looking to the future sooner rather than later.

Went to Shark Park today in the Burrow. The boys showed fighting spirit and didn’t give up it could’ve got ugly but the boys kept turning up.

I want to give a shout out to Peter Mamouzelos very courageous and a try saver near the end very proud of him he made 63 tackles hold your head high Pete you did us proud mate.

As for Campbell Graham massive effort to save a couple of tries and 19 for 165 metres another special effort.

We will bounce back guys we will be ok Glory Glory looking forward to getting back home next Thursday Night will my fellow Souths faithful!

Readymade Cody replacement in Gray when Mitchell gets back (for the few games he's with us).

The Sharks are HUGE.
The wingers and centers are BIG.
Their replacements were getting bigger and bigger as they came on the field.
The warning signs for us were their over the 2 previous games - namely that our yardage off sets isn't at the average it needs to be. It really showed today.
Without that, come poor field position, and unable to mount any type of pressure to knock them off their roll
