Great to see AJ back again and terrific to see Aitken ready to debut for the club in his old position of centres where we need him most at the moment.

Shuffling of the deck chairs - 3 get wheeled out, 3 get wheeled in. Shows we have pretty decent depth.

Nice to also see Liam Le Blanc back in the 17 with Bud starting at halfback. LBL was great against Penrith 2 weeks ago. Very powerful and full of energy.

That's a pretty good looking side considering the carnage actually.

Still not sure but from what I could tell looking at today's training photos, I got the impression Aitken was training on the left and Jack on the right. I think both can play on either side but we know Jack has been a left side player most of his career and Aitken had been playing left edge for the Dolphins although I can recall him playing right centre for the Dragons years ago also.

Where art all the other goons? Given up or gone elsewhere?
Callmack is now on "The Pride". Seems a very popular venue for comments.
This site is becoming like a Ghost Town, as The Specials would describe it.

Cowboys forward John Bateman has been ruled out of his side's clash with the Rabbitohs due to illness.

The Englishman has been replaced in the starting side by Jeremiah Nanai, with Harrison Edwards added to the bench.

Well Game Day is upon us for round 6 as we play in Perth our annual game we take over there. So we come up against the Cowboys. The Cowboys have been better the last few weeks and have played some good footy they’ll be coming into this with confidence. We are coming into it as well off the back of a good couple of wins against Roosters and Penrith. With some even tougher games coming in coming weeks today feels like a game where if we win we will be in a good position. We have chance to go inside the top 4.

Looking at the Cowboys they have a strong forward pack and Dearden in the halves is very dangerous with Drinky out the back. They have some pads out wide as well. I have noticed the last couple of weeks they’ve been good in the effort areas so we need to match them there. We will need to stop the offloads as best we can as well and put pressure on Dearden and Drinky. For us we lose Cody and Jamie massive blows that will hurt but we have to get on with it the best we can. Getting Aitken back is a positive. For us we need to turn up work hard get into the grind play high percentage footy. I’m keen to see again how Trell goes at 6 and it’s a good opportunity for Sullivan as well. If we make silly errors the Cows will make us pay so if we do the little things we’ll it’ll go a long way.

Well not long til the players run out here onto Optus Stadium. Great to see so much Red and Green in the stands here this afternoon. Let’s make sure we do all we can to get the boys the 2 competition points so let’s make plenty of noise here for the full 80mins. Let’s hear that Mighty South Sydney chant up and around Optus Stadium.

Ok as we look down the tunnel here at Optus Stadium we can see the boys from North of Queensland making their way down the tunnel…….. Rabbitohs Members Rabbitohs supporters please give a warm South Sydney welcome to the North Queensland Cowboys…….

This match will see the completion of the first quarter of our playing season. We'll either be 4-2 or 5-1. Both results leave us in good stead and to make the 8, you need to at least be 12-12 at the end of the regular season with a good diff or 13-11 to make sure of it. So, getting to the halfway mark of the season with more wins than losses is critical to not leave too much work for the backend and home stretch and completing the first quarter ahead of things leaves us in a great position.

Obviously hoping to be 5-1 after this match which would put the cat amongst the pigeons for finals but it's one game at a time.

Souths to win.

Rabbitohs: Latrell Mitchell will captain South Sydney for the fourth time in his career and line up at five-eighth after injuries ravaged the Rabbitohs. Jayden Sullivan joins Mitchell in the halves, with Alex Johnston returning from a rib injury to fill the void left by Mikaele Ravalawa. Euan Aitken is set to play his first game of the season after recovering from a pectoral injury. No changes in Friday's 24-hour update, with Thomas Fletcher and Salesi Ataata remaining in the extended squad.

Souths 1-17 with Tommy Fletcher possibly debuting if the 18th man is required.

Cows have decided to leave Nanai on the bench and play McIntyre in the backrow to start. Fine with me.

Let's go!

4-6 at HT. Been scrappy. Felt like we were marginally the better side for much of the half but also felt like the Cows got on top in the final 10 with runs from dh and through the middle in general.

Anyone's game. Let's hope we can step things up.

Disappointing that errors cost us the game.
Although that ref bunker penalty on Wighton for who knows WTF for turned the whole game.
Like WTF is Wighton supposed to do when he is effecting a tackle from behind, with his arms wrapped around the guy's shoulders and arms?

The forwards were good, Mamozeulos was the pick of them, but a costly miss by Hubner let in a try, the backs let us down (except for Aitken and Gray), Mitchell was very disappointing, 2 runs from a 5/8 with his size, and strength just isn't good enough.
