No beating around the bush those are piss poor ratings. If it was AFL or Union you'd be giving them sh#t for the bad numbers

With the poor attendance and ratings it goes to show how far international league still has to go to win over fans.

It's a shame because it was a great game.

Also a shame because if the Pacific Championships had rated well the NRL could have sold the rights separately to make a bit more $$$

No Australia involved will hurt the ratings this time.

Why it beat two recent bledisloe games

The game didn’t involve Australia

With Fox it would’ve gotten 700k

Crowd was over 21k

International league is growing obviously from a low base

It is what it is

Last year pacific cup got cumulative ratings around six million

I bet this year beats it and that’s without the Roos

Have a look at the game day thread it was on par with an nrl game

Nah. There is no comparable fixture for AFL so its a moot point.

But it should be compared against NZ v Tonga in Union, for example. Or South Africa v Japan.

I would hazard those games rate far far lower on Australian TV than this fixture.

It was bigger than most Union games involving the Wallabies. A 21k crowd is a near sell-out too, there’s nothing wrong with either metric.

If Samoa played NZ in NZ in Union, it probably wouldn't even be televised in Australia.
And if the AFL got both those countries to play against each other , they would have all of Victoria convinced that their game has now taken over the world.

I think those ratings are fine considering the Australian team is not involved …what is your expectation? It rated higher than some NRL games during the season in the same time slot…

Also - 171 k watching the Women’s Game seems a very good result compared with NRLW games and other women’s sport

People overrate the attraction of these games- it’s not ideal given the time of the year they are being played …A lot of casual fans switch off after the GF …this was proven the year they played Origin after the season during Covid..hence why that has never been considered again since

The game had a smaller crowd and TV audience than an NRL game.

Wow ! International league is booming.
Nrl crowd average was under 20k20

He doesn’t realise the game was also shown on Fox whilst the Union games he’s comparing it too aren’t and Stan doesn’t get big numbers so the fta numbers are basically it

yes agreed… it’s a good result …

I would like to see how a game like that would rate on a Friday night in June during a hypothetical rep weekend period …. I think it would hold its own compared with a typical NRL game at that time

That's exactly my piont.

The NRL and players treat international footy as a joke, no wonder the fans do too.

The fact that the NRL prefers club games on Anzac day over the Anzac Test proves what little reagrad they hold internationals.

We have the first Ashes series in 2 decades and players are pulling out for friends weddings and surgery that didn't stop them playing NRL but does stop them playing for thier country.

Samoa V NZ had stars on both teams, Haas has made headlines all year about playing for Samoa, Brown has been front page all year.... and yet the game couldn't pull the same crowd of a warroirs game or the TV audience of an NRL game.

You guys must be smoking some seriously good crack if you think a crowd of 21k and FTA TV audience of 415k is a good result.

Ch 9 get the pacific games free. Based on the low ratings they'll continue to get them free in the next broadcast deal
