Ladder predictor is a lot of fun. For those who aren't on it yet:

Couple intriguing games this week:

Warriors v Eels is no sure thing for NZ. At least a home game for them however Moses is in great touch and will want that Kangaroos jumper.

Cowboys v Broncos is another. Its up in Townsville. It should absolutely be a Broncos win but can they handle the pressure? Cowboys are garbage but they can pile on points when they feel like it.

If Penrith win their contest on Thursday night then it really does change how these two matches will be viewed. Much more pressure on the Warriors and Broncos which they didn't have the last fortnight with our losses.

Crazy to still think at this point in the competition we are still in the hunt for 4th place.

Penrith coach Ivan Cleary says his team has been playing “cutthroat footy for a long time” and player fatigue was one of many reasons behind a decision to rest 16 players for Thursday’s clash with the Bulldogs.

On Wednesday morning, coach Cleary defended his decision, which raised the ire of some pundits while also being lauded by others as a genius move to freshen the stars up for what looms as a tougher finals campaign than recent seasons, with the Panthers set to miss the top four.

“Every decision that I kind of make in my job has a lot of different ramifications,” Cleary said.

“They’re not easy, but some come clearer than others, and this one was fairly clear.

“We just decided that if we’re going to rest a number of them, we might as well just keep going.

“We just honestly just thought, as I said, a lot of parts to this decision that I’m not going to go through today, but it just seemed like the right one, so I guess time will tell.”

Cleary said fatigue was “definitely part of it” given the Panthers had to make a surge up the ladder.

“Just the fact that where we’ve had to come from last on the ladder in round 12, we’ve been playing cutthroat footy for a long time,” Cleary said.

“That’s definitely part of it.”

Could prove to be a masterstroke. The club has gotten it right 4 years in a row. This might be 5th time lucky.

We just took teams 1 and 2 to the brink playing below our best. If we can replicate finals performances from 21-24 then its our premiership to lose.

Can't wait for September.

Looking back, Yeo and Patea getting hurt against the Titans was the turning point for the season.

It was the start of the second half derp fests.

Yeo wasn't the same when he came back and Patea barely appeared in first grade again.

The loss of middle dominance in the twenty after half time was felt in most games since.
