If I'm ranking them then I have Casey at the top. He has played for NZ already and looks a specimen. Predicting big things from him.

One advantage Kepaoa has is that he has played 40 games in first grade. Also about to turn 25 in February. Ivan likes those types. Capewell was similar in age and experience. Hosking alike without as many matches etc.

He looks a bit too good for reserves IMO. Just the off field stuff that puts him at the back of the pack.

Pre-season gets each of the new men humming and come Round 1, they’ll be mighty thirsty for their own chapter of Penrith folklore. The culture of success makes them feel 10-feet tall and the risk of failure seems nil.

When you run a well-oiled machine that has demolished the NRL four years in a row, the trick is just to keep it oiled. Dylan Edwards and Isaah Yeo come back after Kangaroos glory healthy and hungry, as do grand final heroes Liam Martin and Paul Alamoti from injuries, and the belief burns as bright as ever that it’s their title to lose.

No one in the NRL era has done perfect quite like these Panthers, roster drain be damned. There are no major contract sagas looming this time, with every key player locked away, so every moment is spent thinking about lifting that trophy again.

It would have been nice if the Manly game was played at St Mary’s Stadium. Minimal/no parking at ground and everyone will have to drive. Leichhardt should of been a Westfield years ago.

Cleary's teammate Paul Alamoti suffered a suspected dislocated elbow during Tonga's loss to the Kangaroos in the Pacific Championships final in November and is expected to miss the opening rounds of the season.

I didn't realise Alamoti's injury was bad enough for him to miss the start of the season. If correct, who replaces him for the early rounds:
- Casey to centre, Jesse on the wing
- Talagi to centre, Casey on the wing
- Kepaoa to centre, Casey on the wing

Alamoti's elbow is heavily strapped in all photos I've seen this pre-season, gives credibility to that report. But also wouldn't be surprised to see him fly to Vegas.

As for the replacement, Casey will obviously fill one jersey. And given that both he and Alamoti can play both Wing and Centre, I reckon they've both done bulk reps at each spot already.

And if we're gonna have a new #6, we put the best defensive option next to him. So Casey at 3, Jesse at 2, and Cole/Talagi/Schneider at 6
