Everyone knew this match was not going to have the same drawing potential on a Sunday afternoon as on Saturday night. The only question still open was whether it'd still have enough drawing power to fill the ground despite that handicap. The answer appears to be no. But the NRL knew the formula for successfully holding RL matches in Townsville and the home club, with a decade's worth of experience of marketing matches in that region, warned them of the implications of not following that formula.
