The dot balls over the past 4 overs are going to win it for Pakistan. What a time to bowl a maiden in the 47th over

Pakistan are really going to have to work big-time on their fielding if they have any aspirations of making the Quarter Finals. Those misfields tonight were absolutely diabolical and were below U6 level. I just cant understand how a team with the level of talent in their batting and bowling lineups look so disorganized on the field as a group of players. Seems to be a lack of cohesion as a team and no communication in the field, allowing the Zimbots two's which should've only been kept to a single etc. Their performance between tests and ODIs is a world apart and wasn't aware before tonight of them having the second lowest W-L ratio in ODIS over the past 12 months

Looks like it could come down to their last group match vs Ireland, which makes Group B even more interesting. Bad luck to the Zimbots. Were the better team and a win tonight would've put Pakistan out of sight and placed themselves within a stone throws distance of a QF spot, but just couldn't put the Pakis away at the key moments. Reminded me of Afghanistans performance vs Sri Lanka.

Finally, I repeat what I said earlier: great to see the ropes on a larger ground pushed back to where they belong, compared to the MCG where the vertical boundaries are shorter than they should be in order to accommodate another layer of advertising boards and photographers. Made a huge difference today seeing the batsmen having to earn their runs, running the 2s and 3s (which would've been an easy boundary on a smaller ground), even ran a 4 which hasn't happened for a long time. I can't remember the last time I saw a match in Australia with 4 runs that batsmen ran. Would've probably been when the fence was still the boundary at the SCG pre-2001/02 summer.

And on a sad note, just found out there's no matches tomorrow. What a shame.

I wonder if they could have used this as a spare day for earlier washouts ?

Australia play Afghanistan on wed at the waca
Bangers play on thursday

would have been very doable

The funny thing is people complain about the duration of the World Cup, and I do agree it is a bit long. However, with the multiple time zones involving the venues of this tournament, that could've easily been solved with more double headers. All those day games in NZ starting at 9am AEDT could've also had a day/night game in Australia on the same day, just like last Thursday. The game in NZ would be finished before the end of the 1st innings of the match in Australia.

Also, if 2:30pm matches were being played in Perth, why not also in Adelaide (3pm AEDT) and Brisbane (3:30pm. AEDT), hence the overlap between the matches in Australia and NZ is less

Why didn't the ICC think about this?

In answer to your question, I think you're talking about reserve days.

Reserve Days are now only used for finals matches and it is only the day immediately after the schedule match day that can be used. The last world Cup to allow reserve days during the Group stage was 1999, whem England played India and England had to win to make the Super Sixes. They were in their run chase before rain called off play for the day, and the next day they were rissoled on a lively pitch at Edgbaston.
