Anderson is the best swing bowler in the world when he gets it right, just doesn't get it right a lot against us

I posed a question on the English county cricket forum where I occasionally post about the weakness in English bowling, this is a pretty interesting perspective:

Timbo firstly congratulations on the whitewash this Ashes series while I think both teams are very similar in strength in the key areas Australia are better than England and that is telling.

Apart from Plunkett who should have been on the tour the 90 mph+ bowlers in England are just not that good, Mark Wood is currently being hailed as a potential saviour but he played 2 tests in the summer and in the second one he was bowling 85mph from the start, his first spell will be quick but then he struggles, he needs an injury free season to build up his stamina.

The county schedule really doesn’t help Worcestershire have 5 games next year before the end of May, the pitches will be green seamers and line and length bowlers will flourish, it is also for this reason we are struggling to develop spinners. Unless the ECB and the counties work together I suspect England getting thrashed 5-0/ 4-0 etc abroad will happen on a more regular basis.
