Without an all-rounder I'm inclined to give the bowlers a rest.

We have a 220 run lead. The ball is well and truly in our court here, this is not a terrible call.

Yes i am

Do you remember how many injuries these 3 merkins have had in the past 5 years?

Do you realize that after these 3 glass cannons our next best is probably Piddle? Do you want Piddle in Perth? Or the other marsh?

Lol. You might be watching this game but if you reckon Siddle is getting a call up over Sayers and Bird you don't watch much else....

I don't care how many injuries they've had. We should be bowling. 29 overs left in the day is hardly a worrying workload, Pat Howard.

If Bancroft hadn't killed it in the first three shield games Renshaw would have got a chance.

But Renshaw hasn't scored over 20 in something like a dozen innings. Bancroft scored 442 runs in the first three Shield matches at 110.

It's not really being dudded when someone is smashing down the door you've left open through your own form....

While true, that wasn’t his last international gig.

Remshaw earned his stripes the hard way and I don’t always believe domestic form should translate to the top level. The Aussies have already made a happy habit of dropping Ussie and I fear that this could be the last we see of Renshaw. That would be a terrible example after all the fight he’s shown.

It’s similar to how India ended Akash Chopra or Mohammad Kaif, in favour of the “much too talented” Yuvraj Singh (test cricket that is)

Leads only 227 and if they skittle us tonight/early tomorrow, then poms have far better batting conditions tomorrow. Can understand wanting to rest the quicks but this could be a big momentum changer in this match. Theyve been turd sangas so far but they still have some class in Root and Cook

Maxwell is in shield cricket scoring runs though. Isn't that what we want from our fringe batsmen ??

And good for him, but put him in the baggy green again and he’d go back to being average.

Hamish Rutherford has scored brutal domestic runs too.

You won't see Renshaw again.

He already spent his short lived career battling "too slow" comments from selectors and commentators alike.

Absolutely ridiculous, but there it is.

I agree that our selectors have shown a penchant for chopping and changing, but I also think that they didn't have a lot of choice in this case. Renshaw wasn't making runs but more importantly he's playing differently. Where he was playing inside the line when he was playing well and leaving a lot, he's chasing the ball and nicking off. A bit like Phil Hughes started to do when they stuffed him around and he lost his confidence. With a bloke who is a pure opener, maybe a number 3 at a stretch, scoring as many runs as Bancroft did Renshaw needed to at least graft a fifty or two and look he was fighting through it, because we needed a couple of batsmen and they weren't going to pick Bancroft at 6. Sadly he didn't.

Dumb merkins killing Renshaws every weekend in jr cricket.

It's a crime.

Even at his age, i wouldn't be surprised if you're right with our mong selectors in charge

That’s kinda my point, it’s a shame they stuffed the kid around. Bancroft did nothing wrong, but he wasn’t the incumbent test opener.

Maybe I’m just yearning for the old days when openers put a price on their wicket.

Nah. Hit out or get out. Don't play to conditions, get your eye in, respect the bowler, watch your SR.

I see this every week in the U14's.

Other coaches/parents/ club men whining about slow run rates.
It truly does my head in.

We have a fluid batting order and try and have a plodder batting with a hitter to try and give all types a go.

I had opposition dads boo...yes, boo...a 10 year old for blocking. Lucky I was umping.
