I had opposition dads boo...yes, boo...a 10 year old for blocking. Lucky I was umping.

Hmm actually now I remember being told by my own coach “hey that’s great you’ve lasted a while but quit stuffing around and have a go”.

That type of shit was probably why I eventually stopped playing.

And some hitters prefer plod with them shoring up one end; I’m thinking Hayden / Langer, Sehwag/ Dravid

It takes all sorts. We mix our order up to play our best 3 bats last. Too many times they think we send our worst out last and they slack off bowling and in field and we cash in. Lol. One is a girl. She's a gun. The amount of "you have girls!?!?!" comments. I have two. One is a leggie Im nurturing and saying dont worry and then watch kids try and swing her to the fence and hit skied lollies for catches. The other bats and bats and bats.

Sure the ball is moving through the air like a banana, but a 300 run lead will be enough. Hell 250 will be fine. Tomorrow evening our ballers shoukd rip through them.
If england had more depth in bowling it could be interesing.

I swear our boys put the short stuff away, and bowl completely differently once a girl is facing up.
Same with the batting. Try to hit her out of the park as a badge of honour almost.

It is depressingly hilarious tbh, but the little fkers won't listen to reason. Lol

I see this every week in the U14's.

Other coaches/parents/ club men whining about slow run rates.
It truly does my head in.

We have a fluid batting order and try and have a plodder batting with a hitter to try and give all types a go.

It's rubbish. Especially at that age when kids are developing a technique and shots and so forth. Everyone has their own game and there's no point trying to get these kids SR up until they have their game down pat. All that happens is they don't understand batting and they basically go out and try to cross bat slog everything.

In reality everything builds from your basic technique. I was a plod batsman for years, but I started playing T20 and I built on my own technique and my own game to up that scoring rate and I strike at 150. Rather than slog, I was at an age where I understood my own strengths and used those as the base to hit boundaries. Lift a cover drive or a square drive and you can hit plenty of sixes, you don't need to try and put everything over cow corner which inevitably happens when these kids are told to up the run rate....

I used to coach an under 12s team in the hunter when I was 16/17 and girls used to be able to play a year longer in each age group and with them hitting puberty early they used to be some of the quicker bowlers at that age group

My girl plays district and state reps u13s. 3 years under. She's 10 in u10s. I can have her 2 more years. She's steely determined. No quarter given. She rocked up to minis 2 years ago with her mum who had nfi about cricket but had gone to a couple of BBL games. Raw as but keen as. It's a thrill watching a kid develop. I've a couple of them like that but I make them do their homework, get them to bring proof of tests and school stuff with their folks making sure education is first. Basically all the hard arse work ethics of some old dude, with fun and laughs. Drills and thrills. And sure we have plenty of free play smack it where u want to but in game think and later explain what went right or wrong and how you could go better next time. No sledging and plenty of manners. When I ump they sometimes tell me what they'll bowl or if they will try something and i have to pick it. I love it. And i make them watch youtube vids of all the greats, go away and learn about Lara or Ponting or Gower or Miller. Jonty fielding.

And yeah, when my girl attacks, the boys quickly learn a lesson. Lol.

Already looking like Sydney and possibly Melbourne will get dead rubbers. i don’t know why CA has to be locked into this stupid test match programming where the two biggest markets often end up dead rubbers.

Why not just push the whole thing back a few weeks, have Brisbane the first test in Dec, Melb and Sydney 2nd and 3rd over Xmas and NY then Perth and Adelaide in January.

Not that hard surely.

Like it used to be. Shit, no one gives a feather or a fig for ODIs, let's play six tests.

This looks gone. Why did ussy the walking wicket review that ffs. The go-slow only works if you actually keep your wickets
