they couldn't get Johnson in a place where he could contribute any more than any club cricketer would for the first test, what are they going to do differently this time?

come on man, coach has it all under control

There's a couple of little things we can work on, we can make sure we jump around the bowling group and each other, and make sure he's in as good a place as he can be. He's taken 160 Test wickets so he's good at this game.

I think Australian cricket needs a complete overhaul

It HAS to start if we lose this ashes series (some ole same ole if we win it though)

We need a new captain, a few fresh group of players (Khawaja, Okeefe, Harris for starters), and a selection policy that takes into form and the right to wear the baggy green, rather than just passing it on to "yes captain ill give you a blowjob anytime you want" mates. Piss of the coach and get some selectors with balls would help greatly as well

If the poms are on song in this test (Adelaide), and we are our usually bumbling self, they go 1-0 up, then im not too sure we will have the ability to then win 2 tests and draw another to win back the ashes, just seems a tall order for this side

You know that is a pipe dream. It is why I was hoping we were going to be flogged this series, but England's attack is just as bad as ours. How is Swann the no2 bowler in the world? Are they actually serious! Would not surprise me to see a 0-0 result for the entire series.

Honestly after this series the following players should go:

1. Ponting (gun sure, but lets be honest here will he be in England when he is 39)
2. Hussey (retire whilst he has some dignity left)

3. North (spud)

4. Haddin (time to get some tests into the younger keepers)

5. Johnson (Copeland/Hazelwood/Starc/George)

Then replace Doherty with ANYONE!

I am starting to worry that Johnson will play and Hilfenhaus will be dropped for Harris.

there is no doubt North will play as Smith hasn't been added to the squad

DROPPING Mitchell Johnson was unfathomable and would seriously dent the paceman's confidence, former Test selector Merv Hughes says.
Hughes believed Ben Hilfenhaus was the quick bowler under most pressure to retain his spot for the second Test against England starting Friday in Adelaide.
The ex-selector said Hilfenhaus' performance (1-142) in the drawn Ashes opener in Brisbane was more disappointing than Johnson's wicketless match.
"Ben Hilfenhaus ... he was the guy up there that I expected, especially on the first day, to do a really good job," Hughes told Melbourne radio station SEN.
"And probably his performance, for mine, is a little bit more disappointing than Mitchell's."
Hughes said expectations on Johnson were too high.
"Everyone is having a crack at Mitchell Johnson," Hughes said.

"Now if other bowlers have taken wickets, you can point the finger at Mitch and say 'mate, you have got to lift your game'.
"But when no-one takes wickets, none of the fast bowlers take wickets, there's 11 (England) wickets taken for the match - understand that Adelaide is probably going to suit Mitchell Johnson a little bit better than Brisbane because it sort of slides on, his extra pace is going to be useful.
"I think we are just starting to get too critical.
"We are starting to expect a lot from a young man that, yes, he has got talent, but really hasn't matured or developed into the cricketer that he can be.
"And by cutting him short, and leaving him out of this Test match, it's going to dent his confidence more than anything else."
Hughes said Johnson was "not bowling that badly".
"Obviously he's not bowling outrageously well," he said.
"But I can't fathom the people that think he should be dropped from this side."

WTF. im seriously concerned now. if johnson stays cricket has lost me.

how anyone of sound mind could say this is just beyond me. hilfy wasnt great but to say he was worse than johnson is just insane.

poor mitch, we cant drop him cause it will dent his confidence......

such a useless mother f**ker............ and has been now for far too long.

shouldnt have even been selected for the first test.

:crazy::crazy::crazy:

I have been a Johnson fan and stuck up for him when most haven't but there is no way he should be in the team for the 2nd test, it would be a joke.

The string of expletives I could scream after reading that disgraceful load of tripe...

Phil Hughes - averaging 50 as an opener in test cricket - dropped to keep that f**king useless nuffy Johnson in the side after he disgraced himself at Lords

Doug Bollinger - averaging under 24 as an opening bowler with a strike rate in the mid 40's - dropped to allow a nuffy like Siddle to play without having to drop the biggest myth in the history of test cricket Johnson who goes on to outdo his Lords disgrace at the Gabba.

Where were you speaking out that these players shouldn't be dropped Merv you Victorian?

FMD. Even Locky could pick a side from the players our selectors don't pick that would towel up the current test side.

it's touching stuff from the iconic Australian, Merv Hughes

Great to see that the PC philosophy has perculated through to the Australian cricket setup... let's not drop him because his confidence will be affected :D

So mediocracy is accepted these days is it Merve Hughes? He isnt bowling that bad.. lets keep him in the side when we have better bowlers out there...

FFS Michael Slater said it himself yesterday he made the Australian side after 11 first class games...

Time to piss off the garbage, keep Hilfy and Bollinger and get rid of Johnson and Siddle for the likes of George Copeland Cameron (cameron is getting on in age though)
