In the context of playing against england, the old enemy- yes

There were some dark days v England in 2011-2012 as well

Namely Melbourne on boxing day, a batting effort that could make a cricket fan cancel Christmas!

And day 3 in sydney when england piled on 644 in khawaja's debut test

Edit- why not give steve smith a trundle? Or even clarke himself?

Even if we somehow manage to skittle them for around 200, we're still going to be chasing a good 400++ on a deteriorating, spinning pitch.. Good luck.

No way we're going to come back from 2-0 down.

Once again we have them 3 for not many.

If only the batsmen had done their job.

Trying to look at positives here... England have lost their last 9 wickets for 120..compared to our 128.

Our bowlers are definitely holding up their end of the bargain.

Lol can't beieve Joe Root is still there. He has looked awful all innings and really should not be opening the batting.

Nah I have not seen his first class stats, that's a shame because he seems to have a fair bit of composure and application towards his batting in the one day game which is badly needed in the test team.
You just answered your own question, one day wicket. Every time he has scored runs in one days cricket they have been on great batting decks. He is all at sea on decks that do a bit. But it doesn't matter who we pick ATM besides Clarke, and Watson if he wasn't a total merkin the rest are not up too it. Ponting,Hussey and Katich would offer plenty more.

Openers weren't looking to rush off so I reckon there's a good chance they're making us bat again. Probably think they'll finish us by stumps.
The only person more wrong than you on here is PB but he is taking the piss half the time, the most clueless poster on internet forums in the history of the internet.

The sad thing is the Poms are playing pretty crap themselves. If Clarke doesn't make big runs we barely manage to bat 60 overs. This side does the basics so poorly.

We will go 3-0 down and then in dead rubbers win (I don't think we will) a test or two, and announce to the cricketing world we are on the way up. This poms side hasn't been great at all, we just seem to be a lot less greater than them :(

That was a Zimbabwe level performance, shameful.

I can understand a young brittle middle order panicking and throwing away their wickets, but there is absolutely no excuse for Watson blowing team reviews like that. That's just disgraceful and it probably had a little to do with Rogers not reviewing when he should have.

The reality is the Australia top order will never compete in this series. Clarke had to start failing eventually and it was just a matter of time before the tailenders wouldn't bail them out. By tailenders I mean Steve Smith onwards, while its a very good tail they're still just handy players and shouldn't be the ones getting the bulk of the runs.

So was that the worst display of batting in a single day of Ashes cricket ever?

Both sides deserve a serious glove slap.
