You're making it sound like shots that pitch outside leg are impossible to play. Not all players are as hopeless as our batting order ;)

8ball, your second edit has actually helped me make sense of it. If you can get an lbw pitching outside leg it becomes the perfect line really. Stack the leg side, maybe one or two on the off side in case of a stray delivery and just keep trying to skim that leg stump or whack the pad.

I reckon the LBW rule needs to be changed. Why is it LBW if it pitches outside off but not outside leg. That allows for too much negative batting.

Change the rule and make it as long as its hitting in line and the umpire thinks its hitting the stumps, its out. Dont worry about where it pitches. It would take a variable out and make it easier to get the right decision AND make it tougher for negative batting.

FMD man, I have met some idiots in my time but this takes the cake. Go and read about the development of the LBW rule, then come back and admit you have no idea what you are talking about. Jesus christ.

Seriously he should just be rotating Smith, Khawaja and Hughes with the ball.

There's no sense in buggering the bowlers at this point.

There better not be another quick bowling for the rest of this innings.

Imagine one of the quicks doing their back now.

Lol even we managed to beat those sides.

Richard Dawson would have to be one of the worst test players of a time. Can't believe he managed to play for England.

Richard Dawson averaged 44 with the ball in 1st class cricket. Had no right to play test cricket.

Agar just viciously spun that one...so Swann will be loving it.

Hopefully Uzi, Smith and HAH have taken note of Root's innings and his ability to seize an opportunity and it inspires them to do the same. That said his technique is a lot better than all 3.
