There's nothing sensible about the declaration, 10-15 overs before tea or overnight is without question the right time to declare, his declaration came because it's all about him or he doesn't know any better.

I don't know about you guys but I think t here is a chance the Aus lead is only about 100 by the close of play and then if India force the issue they could declare overnight on the 4th day leaving Ahwin a good crack at bowling the Aussies out on the 4th day. Its that sort of wicket.

This is the BIG test for Siddle.
In similar situations in the past (on good batting pitches) he has been grossly disappointing.
Has he turned the corner??

First three balls of his first over suggests NO!

Getting pretty sad mate. You should give up, IMO.

I think making huge totals in this situation is excessive and gives the opposition the opportunity to refuse to chase it

Sorry, but that demonstrates a massive misunderstanding of the game. No one cares if India chase it or not. It was our 1st innings. The only question is could India survive for 6 sessions. Had we batted on even if we got them out in the last over of day 5 we win. Now if they can bat 6 sessions they will be in front and it could be us deciding if we chase the total or not. We've got India out of the field where they really didn't want to be, and opened up the tiniest of chances to win it as well as making it much easier for them to save the game by giving them the best of the conditions to bat in. Rubbish decision even if we do roll them by stumps today.
