This is a pathetic toothless bowling attack.

Hazlewood is a nuffy towards anyone who shows any kind of discipline and skill. Marsh has been wasteful. And Johnson should have retired, a pale imitation of what he was. Lyon and Starc are just less shit than the rest, but nothing special at all.

Haze is down about 2 yards in pace to what he was earlier in the year.

Just showing the WACA 20 years ago, makes this pitch looks even worse.

What exactly does Mitch Marsh offer at test level?

Ill disciplined, glorified slogger with the bat and a medium pace plodder.

I feel certain when Ian Chappell has a vinegar stroke....the words "horizontal bat shot" are muttered.

Still better than the Victorian brayshaw...I dead set change channel the moment that Victorian speaks.

Brayshaw is a Victorian wannabe. He's actually from Western Australia.

I know the pitch is crap but Johnson looks done, as soon as he is bowling under 140kms he has nothing.

I remember in the 7 match ODI series vs India in 2013 (just before the 2013/14 home Ashes series), Johnson was clocked as high as 154km/h. He's lost a hell of pace since then.

I think I said earlier that its important for test cricket to be strong in England and Australia. We are really one of the rearguards of test cricket. So dishing up such shit wickets really hurts things.

So, with MCG/Adelaide Oval/Burswood Stadium having drop-in pitches and the WACA being a shadow of the pitch it was 15+ years ago, that leaves only The Gabba/SCG/Hobart as the only test grounds to produce 'quality' pitches.

Although, in saying that though (and I mentioned this last summer vs India), the Sydney Swans will permanently be moving back to the SCG after next season. Given the AFL have put a lot of pressure on The Gabba/SCG management in the past to revert to drop-in pitches so their precious players don't have to be 'tackled' on the hard area of the ground where the cricket pitches would be, I would not be surprised in the slightest if the SCG also adopts a drop-in pitch from 2017 onwards. I mean, it JUST sounds like something I could visualise Chesire-grin James Sutherland agreeing to and spruiking propaganda as to how it will be good for Australian cricket in the long-term etc. etc.

Oh how the quality of cricket pitches and the domestic cricket scene have declined since I started watching cricket 20 years ago.....and it's no surprise that everything that has gone wrong regarding those issues has slowly crept in since Sutherland became CEO.

I have never seen Lyon bowl anything but his stock off-spin delivery

I have been saying this time and time again....

All Lyon has in his armoury is the same old, standard off-break delivery. Has little variation in flight and speed and unless he gets sharp turn off the pitch like he did when he ripped through India on the last day at Adelaide Oval, is easy pickings for most batsmen.

Colin Miller (even when he debuted in his mid-30s) craps all over Lyon from a great height. Not only was he a handy medium pacer who swung the ball, but could also bowl off-spin and had a ripping arm-ball that he took several LBWs and bat-pad catches with. 2001 Australian test player of the year as well. Averaged 26 from his 18 test matches, and was unfortunately the scapegoat and shafted to cricket obscurity as a result of that famous 2001 test series vs India. He can blame Michael "rock star" Slater for letting Tendulkar off with that nonchalant dropped catch attempt off Miller's bowling at a crucial stage in the deciding 3rd test.
