The spinner is a numpty, but the 4 quicks are all quality - losing Philander, Kallis and Steyn is pretty tough, and by and large these two wickets have been roads... not to mention Clarke batting as well as anyone ever has...
I dont think he's particularly good but he's sure as shit not helped out by his captain.

That was a ridiculous day of cricket, entertaining to watch. I thought Clarkes first hundred was pretty shit tbh, alot of edges, mistimed shot etc, but he's seeing them so well that he just dominated, got better and better.

Agree a bit on Clarke too - while he's in amazing form, he's also making the most of a fair amount of good fortune...

His first hundred was lucky at times but once he got to about 120 he was just awesome. I hope Warner's excellent counter attacking 100 hasn't been completely forgotten.

still a bit confused as to why Smith bowled so many overs using those so called spinners, they should open up a pie shop

Hopefully Wade can join the party and we can rack up over 600. He's got a long way to go, but if Clarkey went on to another triple ton... wow.

Incredible day yesterday, test cricket is king by a long, long way

Excellent batting by the Australian’s yesterday, to get 480 in one day is insane. I can’t help but feel Clarke and Hussey are covering up an issue though; our top 4 just isn’t good enough. Cowan played well last test and Warner this test but other than that it has been slim pickings and 3 for not much both times. Hopefully Watson will fix that though.

Given the incredible run out I reckon pup should push for 700 by midway through the 2nd session and give himself 3 and a half days to bowl SA out twice.

I feel the same way about our top order. Really our score in the whole series so far has come largely from Hussey and Clarke.

Personally I wasn't convinced by Warner either, terrific knock to get his century but even when he got himself in his technique wasn't the best.

South Africa's bowling has been made to look popgun for the last 2 tests

^ Mind you, Justin Langer lost that argument to Makhaya Ntini a few years back when he said Ntini was getting old and had become a military medium pacer, copped one of the most deadliest bouncers in recent memory - wiped him out for the match. Although JL probably doesnt recall much about it
