Poor Bazal.

Guy's been beaten down so much that he thinks if the opposition team bowl real well, getting all out before tea for 85 on the first day is in some sick way acceptable when Australia play test match cricket at home.

Sad indictment of first class in this country.

Your comprehension skills could use as much work as our batting, tbh. It boggles my mind that someone could be stupid enough to believe that complementing another side on their performance is any way excusing the way the beaten side played...

It seems like since Warner has become a better bloke (and so theoretically captain material) he has become a fairly ordinary opener. He needs to get the mongrel back.

I think lehmann has too much influence on the team tbh.

Smith seems to be a Ponting like leader, leads by example rather than tactical nous. Ponting though had guys around him who could offer advice, Smith has no one.

It'd be fun to see a game against Pakistan where we get rolled for 85 but the Pakistan players have all backed Australia to win.

Is Bazal bothering to watch how the Saffers are digging in and fighting atm?

Or still trying to defend his ridiculous position with Patty Howard's 2 inch leather patch schlong in the corner of his mouth.

I think lehmann has done a lot of good for the team but he should have stepped down after we lost the ashes imo

Hes only in his mid 20s in fairness.

He should be putting his foot up the arse of a few blokes for sure though
Does he have that in him?

I know nobody here thinks much of Philander but he's great in the conditions, and TBH we should see these conditions more often, batsmen having to work, and control/subtlety rewarded for bowlers

Smith showed batting was possible and I suspect a Saffer or two will as well

You're still yet to explain how acknowledging we played badly while praising our very well performing opposition is in any way backing the way we played. I won't hold my breath, tbh...I'm not sure I can hold it until the end of time.

Let's have a look at the Australian batting.
Warner: never scores meaningful runs on a pitch that does anything so no surprise out cheaply here.
Burns: not an opener and got a beauty
Kwajaha: squared up again, has a technical deficiency where he doesn't get forward or back and leads with his arms.
Smith: played every ball on its merits and so was 48no at the end
Voges: got a good un but is not a test player. All his runs against the west Indies on roads
Ferguson: can't judge his batting but for stupidity gets 9/10
Neville: timid but once again gets handed a shit sandwich from the top order

Nailed it with Khawaja. If it's a flat track his lead footed stomp down the wicket works fine. Anytime there's a smidgen of movement he is squared up and looks awful.

Voges average is inflated by his 269 not out, which was a brilliant partnership with Richard Illongworth, remembering he was legally bowled for 8, but old mate Illingworth pulled a blind mans rabbit out of the hat to save him from nowhere. Still cannot believe this blind git remains on the elite panel.

True - that is why I would think about getting a guy like Klinger in for a shot at the top 3. He has always had a very good cricketing brain and leadership qualities. I don't think there is much of that in this team.

Its why we should have played sayers for the conditions but the selectors have a type of bowler they like.

I think this summer will be a good moment of truth for Smith. he needs to get real about the jokers in the team.

Are you watching how they're batting at the moment, champion?

Strap yourself in and pay attention, you might learn a thing or two about cricket.

I'm going to sound like ian Chappell here but the coach's role in cricket is about improving fielding, identifying batsmen and bowlers deficiencies (both your own and the oppositions) and assisting the captain in tactics.

It's not about selecting the team, deciding what to do at the toss, giving players a gobful in the dressing room or fronting the media after a win.

That's the captains job.

That's exactly what the roles should be, and historically have been.

Lehmann has blurred the lines, as has Howard.
