Siddle didn't take the field with his teammates for the start of the Windies' second innings late on the third day at Adelaide Oval.
An Australia spokesman said Siddle had been rested to give him more time to overcome tightness in his left hamstring, and would try and bowl on Monday.
Australia veteran Mike Hussey said he was hopeful the big-hearted Victoria seamer would prove his fitness.
"He's got a bit of tightness in one of his hamstrings," Hussey said.
"But I think it was just more precautionary, leave him out of it tonight so his leg has got another 12 hours or so to give it a good go tomorrow.
"I'm pretty confident that he'll be out there tomorrow for us."
Australia enter the fourth day trailing by 35 runs and with 10 West Indies wickets to capture.
"Tomorrow is going to be a huge day for us really," Hussey said.
"I think we're going to have to bowl with a lot of patience, a lot of discipline, it's not the sort of pitch where you can just blast people out.
"Hopefully we can get a couple of wickets and get a bit of a roll-on, which has had success for us in the past coming into the second innings of the Adelaide Test."
Great, just when you think things couldn't get worse this happens.
