I’ve never seen a bloke get as many wickets with absolute dross. Not even Myth Johnson. 130km hr long hops accounts for almost half his wickets.
No, I agree, but the bottom line is that’s a decent test career, bit like Lyon, you wonder how…

We are still wondering about Sir Baldalot. Well he’s played a lot of cricket to get tiger wickets.

Harry Cherrington Brook.

Great start to his career but surely he'll be found out by someone someday.

Quality bowling helps, Henry and Southee weren’t pummelled . I’d expect your lot to slow him down a bit. ATM he’s not plagued by self doubt

Little Bazball collapse in this session- 4/75. England 390/7.

England still in a very good position

Interesting that England haven't brought Buttler back in now that they're Bazballing. He'd be ideal for this philosophy.

Not that Foakes has done anything wrong.

There's no nonsense about his action, add his fitness and dedication and you've got a great bowler.

I used to rate him a little lower than the real greats but if you were picking a post war greatest England XI he'd be there, probably in the all time English XI too.

this bazball seems to incorporate first innings declarations

why wouldnt you want to bowl at an extra hundred runs or so ?

A part of this is surely weighing up the match time versus the cumulative value of their #10 and 11 batsmen. I know Leach has hung around with Stokes before, but he averages 12 and Anderson 9.

Increasing the scoring rate certainly allows declarations, but then also more tine to be beaten when you eventually encounter done competence

they’re certainly on a roll, but someone will put up a fight soon, surely

I think we've fallen into the trap of playing to England's tempo, although we've ended up stuck in no man's land. It's gotta be tough mentally to see them score 435 in 3 and a half sessions and then realise it's going to take you 5 sessions of quality batting at a standard 3rpo to match them. We've wanted to cut some corners and are paying the price.

Lol at two top 5 wickets reverse sweeping Leach. A standard shot these days but it's one you really don't need to play in these circumstances, you're increasing the risk of Leach dramatically by choosing to do so.
