Akram is king of the lefties. Johnson climbing the ladder but has a fair way to go to get to Wasim. But I'm racking my brain trying to find anyone else remotely of this ilk.

Akram was amazing, I don't think Johnson will ever reach Akram's level, not over a sustained period.. Funnily I reckon their batting is very similar too.

Don't like that decision.. With SA on the ropes.. If they roll Australia for 150 or less they may get their tail up.. Ponting is far too defensive.. This was the time to go in for the kill.

There's three days left. I'd bat again everyday and twice on Sundays.

And potentially bat last on this minefield chasing 150 odd.No thanks. The bowlers have recent form on the board getting us home.

I would have batted again for sure.

Indeed, one of my all time favourite pace pace bowlers along with McGrath, Holding and Marshall.

Is Australia still scared of enforcing the follow on since Kolkutta?

IMHO, no. If they were 314 in front I'd think about it. But when it's only 214 and if they gey 350 odd, chasing 130+ could prove dicey.

I don't think it really matters, we have them on the ropes and another sustained spell today by our quicks would finish them. They are already without Smith.

I doubt whether Ponting will enforce the follow on. Plenty of cricket left and providing they can knock 'em over quickily tonight it's best to rest the bowlers then launch them at the South African batsman on a failing wicket with a big lead.

For those saying not following on was the right decision.... how exactly do you think SA were even going to be able to make us bat again??

They had to get almost 100 runs more than they managed in the first innings just to stay in the game. They would not have got close.

A crushing victory by an innings to clench the series and enforce our no.1 test nation position was what was needed. Spending a day and a half batting and giving the south africans the chance to try and bat out 4-5 innings to tie the game is quite possibly Ponting's most gutless decision to date.

Have some f**king balls and go for the throat

They did (3 balls) and he hasn't.
