Langer has been an absolute failure as a batting coach,Since he came on board how many of these type of collapses keep on happening???? There is more to the job than telling Rick he is hitting them well in the nets and getting Huss and Ponting coffees
Imagine if Justin "boys been hitting them well in the nets" Langer is head coach

I am pretty convinced Hughes is going to be an awesome long term opener for us. His greatest obstacle will be the next Ashes series IMO.

Can't wait for the series against you, if we lose reasonably well then it's just business as usual but if we give you a scare, or even somehow draw the series or even win a game then the reaction in Australia will be hilarious.

It will be rock, rock, rock bottom* if we lose to the Black Caps.

Rock bottom = losing the Ashes last summer
Rock, rock bottom = all out for 47 last week.

Noone should be a coach while anybody they've played more than a handful of tests with is still playing. Warne has said that himself. He'll only consider coaching/selecting when one day all his contemporaries are gone.

When was the last time South Africa had a good opening pair? Rudolph seems like absolute junk, what a stupid shot to get out on.

I've seen Amla open with Smith quite a few times, and they make a good opening pair, but I do prefer Amla at 3.

Alviro Peterson is solid - Rudolph replaced him. The reason I wouldn't be so quick to call for Smith's retirement is because you want at least one experienced opener (plus he's still relatively young and still has some value)

Call for Smiths retirement? Wtf?

Also Ruldolph is worth persevering with for a little longer, got 2 starts in this test match, has shown in FC cricket that usually once he gets in he piles on the runs.

Rudolphs gone from far too careful to really reckless. He looks good for thirty odd then throws it away.

They've never really been able to find someone to partner Smith since Gary Kirstens retirement. They had MacKenzie for a while, then Prince decided he didnt want him in the team, Prince does well when he opens but doesnt want to open (he's a tool), they had someone else IIRC before they have now tried Rudolph up the top

Smith's has been under-performing over the past 12 to 18 months. And he does think about what is best for the team as it is his responsibility to do. He has stood down from limited overs captaincy and there has been a lot of talk about what this Summer will mean for his career, particularly if he doesn't score runs. He did well in the final innings of the last test, but I don't think he has quite silenced the doubters yet. But with Rudolph not doing well in these tests it looks like Smith will not be going anywhere any time soon and nor should he - not just yet anyway.

Lyon into the attack, I noticed something about him when he batted last night. He looks much better with his helmet on.
