They haven't all clicked across three innings of this series, but a top 5 of Rogers, Warner, Smith, Clarke and Voges is stronger than any top 5 we have had for some time IMO.

AB is ridiculous. Don't know how someone can so consistently sweep quicks four feet outside off stump for 6 over the fine leg fence. He's first then daylight.

Yeah, should be good for the Ashes - but not a long-term top 5 (actually 6 and 7 are old too).

Some of your younger bats need top start putting up big numbers in domestic cricket, because none of Rogers, Clarke, Voges, Watson and Haddin can (for various reasons) have too many seasons left in them.

Rogers, hopefully Haddin, Watson may all be gone by summer. Voges probably sticks around a little while if he's any good in the next little while.

Warner
Burns
Smith
Clarke
Voges
Who knows. Either Marsh, Chris Lynn, Jordan Silk long term will be there somewhere I suspect. Handscomb is quite good with the bat.
Nevill

Is quite reasonable though. Better batsmen at 7. Burns is a bit different to Rogers but is a good player and has been opening for a little while. Depends how long Clarke and Voges last I guess. 6 still feels like a black hole

AB and Kumar say hello

Cant argue with either one being a better bat than Smith at the moment

However, Sanga wont be saying hello after August this year (he is retiring)

Back to this test....

Couple of quick wickets early on day 2 and it will even up the game. We should reach 400 at least

be handy if we do because our bowlers should clean up on this pitch

Windies likely to fold really quick...

Your quicks are excellent, but iI think t's more to do with the lack of spine in the Windies batting - Australia usually have someone who knuckles down and gets it done, Voges in the first test, Smith here - don't see the Windies manning up tbh

Brathwaite actually bowled pretty well for a part timer. Unlucky not to pick up a wicket or two. Had Smith dropped at first slip.
