2nd trial vs tigers

S'ua says he prefers the right edge. So imagine what havoc the two monsters Suli and Leilua can cause on the left edge with similar clean ball Flanagan gave out yesterday. On the other hand S'ua may change his mind and ask to stay on the left as he had a blinder. Seems after quite a while we are again spoiled for choice.
Suli & Leilua defending side by side is fraught with danger.

He is bloody good at backing up as well. Remember the try he scored after Sloan made the initial break and Liddle chimed in and backed him, took the pass and ran at speed to score the try. It was a beauty.
Very true David thats something else thats been lacking, supporting the ball carry....why it hasn't been drummed into players since Bennett left defies logic.....then again the appointments of Price, The Imposter and Hook defied logic as well

Ok a trial win is a trial win. We learnt a little bit about ourselves, a few combos were evident and the players looked as though they are playing for Flanno and the rest of the coaches and club. Now I want to see that style when we are under pressure in the comp, or when we need to score points, who is going to say follow me lads, lets get it done. But I really want to see us close out games, have our home grounds as fortresses. This is the Flanno style and I think the players enjoyed it as well by the smiles on their faces, not to mention some big grins on fans as well.

I am looking forward to a different way we play under Flanno. I can see that we are now showing much more commitment and conviction in our defence and our attack is on the improve. There is still so much more to bringing back our club to be top 4-8 but it is going to happen. It was great to see us scoring several tries on Saturday night and our first game of the comp against the Titans will need the same attitude and commitment from the players particularly in defence as the Titans have several strike players who can score tries with speed.

I am hoping that our journey in 2024 will be better than the previous years.

Was great stuff, I've got nothing to add but good vibes. Feeling very positive about the season ahead after seeing both those trials. Flanagan has them primed.

The team played with intensity, aggression and a touch of ruthlessness - and they had fun doing it. That forward pack of ours is truly formidable, and we still have arguably our best off-season recruits still to come in! Sele and Luciano.

How good was the feeling to finally get a win and play well. Has lifted my spirits immensely. I thought Suli had an absolute blinder and good luck to anyone trying to take on an edge of Luciano, Suli and Ravalawa it will be a brick wall. Not saying we will be premiership contenders but i dont think we will be easy beats this year. Everyone can remember how bad Newcastle and Warriors were faring before last season and look at their turnarounds. Nothing to say we cant do something similar.

Another brief thing I want to mention. In his post match interview, Jaydn Sua went out of his way to mention and credit Dean Young.

I'll rewatch it for the exact quote

ok here goes

Hooper: The Dragons looked particularly physical, is that something that your new coach Flanagan really drummed into the forward pack particularly?
Sua: Yeah definitely. We've got Deano there as well and we've been doing a lot of tackling over the off season so there's some sore bodies there. But we wanted to come out and be really physical and get our season off to a good start

then later

Hooper: There was also some positive signs in terms of the scramble defence on your own line
Sua: As I said before Deano's come in and worked really hard with us on our D - goal line defence was a big focus for us in the off season and something we struggled with last season. Its only early but positive signs, exciting for us and the fans

Noticed that too. Unfortunately it won’t stop the anti Dean Young brigade from laying the boot in every chance they can get. Apparently he’s only got a job because of nepotism……..

Does not sound like a man that wants out of our club.

Deano is the defense coach so hats off to him the way he seems to have turned us from a brittle defending side into a defensive machine.

This kinda backs up what I am saying. Deano also copped plenty of flack before and when we signed him. Picking up the son of Albert just may turn out to be a master stroke.

The tigers knocked over Melbourne the week before so don't underestimate the form we will get a much better READ next match against the TITANS.......
Now if we can beat the Titans up their way in two weeks time then the future would indeed be looking so much brighter. We have about two weeks to go over drills, moves, plans, strength, conditioning and endurance training and building up confidence. We can do it.
