I absolutely cannot give points to RTS, words can't describe how infuriating it was to watch him scooting off and leaving Saab unmarked. It happened a dozen times, it was insane! If a couple of passes stuck + Turbo stayed on, these were gifts. Smart teams will figure this out and kill us.
Im starting to think this is coached into them because RTS is a smart player. They all do it bar none.
So someone please explain to me the pros and cons of leaving the winger unmarked. Is it to take out the bigger threat of the centre if he beats his tackler one on one, opening up the inside AND outside channels?

3. Egan
2. Barnett
1. Clark

HMs Metcalf, CHT & JFH, team bounced back well, Niukore and Capewell both much improved games, albeit this was required.

Really impressed with Erin Clark, feel like we got him at the perfect point in his career, he is basically a more effective Jazz without the errors. Good get.

It's just shit defense, and has been a problem for eons at the Warriors. You should only come off your wing if you're one short of numbers. Otherwise you really should trust your center to make a one-on-one, and hopefully supported by the inside defenders sliding across.

I think everyone played well even Ford who is much better as a sub later in the game
3 Egan
2 Clark
1 Tuaupiki (need him in the team even when Dallin is fit, needs to work on jumping to catch high kicks but his raw talent is immense with footy smarts and most elusive runner in team)
HM JFH, Barnett, Leka, Demetric and Spec M Jazz for stinking up Manly wearing a shit eating grin
Big improvement from Webster with using the bench - always 1 of the captains on
Good use of captain's challenge

We were playing a rushing, up and in defensive game yesterday, getting up in manly’s faces and putting numbers into the tackle. That probably does tend to leave us short on the edges if the wingers man up or leaves gaps if they stay out- I assume Roger was taking the punt on cutting off the play assuming he’d just leave a gap for Turbo if he didn’t.

yeh, thats what i thought he was upto as well. But when they got skinned on the outside the second time, he turned around and started waving his arms around like he was expecting someone to cover him. Pompey was left for dead both times by Saab.

3. Clark. Machine
2. Egan. Finally had a decent platform in front of him.
1. Metcalf. Great organising.

I thought we were going to be toast after the first 19. Our right side was terrible. Finally came good.
I loved Jazz when he was with us, but im super happy we got to shove it right down his throat after all his comments this week. Clark is a great upgrade from him.

Capewell can still FO

I think it's a reactionary thing, that you only overcome when you're confident in the position and can trust your inside. The default setting, by the looks, is to race in and shut down the ball, but that can lead to big issues

It's just weird.

Roger pinned them a couple of times, but alarmingly missed out way more and we got saved by Turbo throwing the ball into touch (rare) or a forward pass (marginal). Then Turbo was mysteriously gone.

We were not far away from being reamed down that edge over and over again.

The weird thing is it felt like Pompey had him covered; Pompey was left for dead as soon as the line was broken but that's not news since Pompey is slow af.

Had to think this week, too much going on.
But finally:
3. Egan. Great to see him back to near his best. He starts the go forward.
2. Barnett. Huge motor and leads well. Good decision making.
1. Clarke. Too good to leave out.

Hard luck prizes. CHT and Tuaupiki.
Best of the rest. All the rest. Tremendous effort.

03: Clark - Set the platform for our spine players. In my opinion the 13 is part of the spine even though it's not traditionally seen as such. He also helped our middles and took on the workload so Barnett could stay out there longer.

02: Barnett - Respectable long shift to ensure we don't go backwards once we bring on our bench players. Love his hard work ethic. Respect to the co-capo.

01: Egan - Knows the right options to take and shows his best work when we have the opposition on their heels.

HM: The team as a whole showed so much energy and an attitude adjustment from Round 1. I was confident after we let in that first try. They didn't hide in their shells and went on with the job.

Note: RTS being shown up on the wing shows us that his rightful position should be fullback. I know Tuaupiki is our #2 fullback option but he's doing fine on the wing. Webster please do the rightful thing and put Roger at #1. He is wasting away on the wing as CNK is declining despite being OK this game.

Tuaupiki is a waste on wing or FB he needs to be in the halves, not getting smashed taking high kicks and kamikaze hit ups to start the set. He is a rare talent running and kicking and passing.
