man, did Atkinson run over your cat or something? No one has mentioned the fact we played better without Trindall in the team.. also played our best footy when he was out of the team during that month or so..

Agreed that that is the best we’ve looked in months.
But it had absolutely nothing to do with Atkinson.
Just like against Melbourne, it was all Brailey.

The only positive contribution Atkinson had towards the improvement in attack was keeping right out of it.

I’d like to see Wilton finish the year in the 18 jersey.
Gives flexibility to cover any warm up or his issues

One dimensional maybe, but he’s acting on instructions from the coach? And for most part it’s working

Agreed that he's playing to instructions, and that the tactic worked well again.
I just don't see how doing nothing other than kicking at the end of each set, and taking shots at goal, amounts to 3-2-1 inclusion.

The one steering the team around was Brailey.

Trindall is an out and out 7 though. In games when he plays halfback he is nearly always the best player, individually, for us. The thing is though he needs Nicho to be out to play 7. So take the only player out who has a bit of X, Hynes, means Trindall goes to 7 and does well individually but with no X factor at all. So looking objectively at the situation I would have to say that Tricky is not creating anything other than for himself.

But it has to be remembered that neither is Atkinson. He can't even pass properly left to right. His right to left is OK but left to right is bad for a half, be it in 6 or 7.

Yep.
Last week there were a few diabolical ones.
This week, the pass to Nikora when he(BN) put it down, it was at his head and it was just a standard L to R pass.
It's quite noticeable.

The one to TheTonganFisherman was just wrong. Wrong decision, wrong pass selection, wrong execution. Just wrong. He also threw it forwards out of the hands.

He could have kicked there was so much room. He didn't, that's fine but that one had to be a spiral bullet not a Harbour Bridge pass. Most likely a strength issue, left vs right.

I don't think GC is "Most irrelevant Team in NRL" at all. GC is like our Los vegas , Florida , etc. Holiday and Tourist attraction for Australians AND Foreigners. Chance to Showcase "Greatest Game of all to rest of the world." Also Cant let the Airiel Ping pongers have it all to themselves . I think a strong GC more important than Strong Boncos ,in terms of promoting the game.

Crack strong today?

It's yaa baa over here.
And no idea, sorry.

I'm not saying he was rubbish, just that he didn't deserve 2 points in the 3-2-1s.

Let's look at his contribution.

Receipts: 50
Kicks: 17
Bombs: 5
Grubbers: 1

So 46% of the time he received the ball he kicked it.

Runs: 4
Run Metres: 27
Line Breaks: 0
Line Engaged: 0
Tackle Breaks: 0
Line Break Assist: 0
Try Assists: 1 - Just watched them again and can't work out what it was. He was no closer than 2 passes inside the try scorer. There was couple from bombs, but they we scored after passes from the player taking the bombs.

In defense he was ok, but not outstanding.

Tackles: 16
Ineffective Tackles: 2
Missed Tackles: 2

Missed or ineffective on 20% of his attempted tackles.

Where in there is his contribution significant enough to warrant being judged 2nd best player?

Come on DJ, it was one persons subjective call.

I give him three for his new haircut. I’m going to copy it.

Agreed, and I have no problem with that.
I was just surprised anyone could see it that way.

My other posts on the topic were replies to other posters, yourself included, having a laugh at my incredulity.
Again, no issue with that. It's what we're here for.
But I stand by my thoughts - just as I'm sure Inferno stands by his.

At any rate, we won and won well.
So, at the end of the day, who gives a pharque what I think? :)
