What's the biggest rugby crowd in NZ been?

Surprisingly difficult to find out. Appears to be 60,000 - 19/09/1959 New Zealand v British Lions @ Eden Park. Presumably set when the ground was more embankments than stands. It has had a 48K capacity over the past 30 years, at least.

:lol:Using 4 million people as excuse when Wales has 3 million people:lol:

53,000 + Wales game > 40k at most Eden Park
god your an idiot... you obviously havent set foot outside of west sydney.

thats 3 million in Wales... they draw these crowds across the whole of GB.

they have a market of over 60,000 million people available to them within an area of 219,000kms.

NZ have a market of 4 million people available to us within 268,021kms.

comparing NZ attendances to European attendances are ridiculous considering our isolation.

As long as there is over 40K, everything else is a bonus now and a much needed cash and momentum boost to international Rugby League.

Here is hoping for a good game as well, and a NZ victory just to really raise the interest in the final!

The dog-shaggers have some canine lovers in both codes: Kearns and Monaghan. Maybe Australian footy lovers shouldn't be so ruff on each other; there's room in the world for both Union and League, so don't go dog over it.

No one is claiming that international rugby league will get higher crowds than international rugby union. Union is a far bigger world wide sport whose main focus is on international matches. What we are saying is that about 45,000 turning up to Eden Park is a very good number given that league is very much a minority sport in New Zealand, it will be the second highest crowd of all time and the game is a dead rubber. No one has tried to say that this crowd somehow makes us better than union.

Your logic makes as much sense as me gloating and going on about English Premier League crowds being better than Guiness Premiership crowds.

^ a simply concept that hayne-train would take, no doubt, another 3 years to comprehend
