We batted poorly

Other than Warner (and Clarke is just out of form), most of the dissmisals were off wide deliveries which could have been left alone (except Nevilles leave)

Need to get the poms out well under 200 tomorrow, someone needs a demon spell of bowling

Poms clearly in front after day 1. But things can change easily after day 2. Up to us

3 day test at most?

Weren't most of the Australian media, players etc complaining about not having traditional English pitches??

Not over yet, but yep, the Poms were stupid in their pitch prep - sideways movement is something most don't cope well with and Aussies are no exceptions - Smith for one is clearly a fine player, but his technique looks suspect against sideways movement from the pitch - same with Warner

Bog average effort with the bat by Australia with some very dumb shots. Id like to say hopefully the lead doesn't get out to 100 but with 7 wickets left England are very well placed. Early wickets will be needed tonight.

gotta give the poms credit here, they bowled well on a responsive pitch

No batsman is comfortable with the ball moving about. It's why English batsmen traditionally don't average as highly as Australian.

I think that our guys could do better. Less pushes at the ball. Play a bit later etc. Smith could rein in his movement a bit and bat more on off stump.

See Smiths technique isn't always like the one he used at lords. He only started using that big movement against India to ironically take knicking off out of the equation because he had been knicking the odd ball. So he thought hmmm these Indians don't move the ball a lot so how about I make my off stump my middle stump then bowlers would be bowling to where I'm strongest.

On seaming wickets where he might need a few overs to get started he really should bat a bit more traditionally. At least at first because he wants to leave as much as possible.

This test is still not over.

Australia could quite easily roll England for 200.

What a crucial first session coming up.

We need to get Root out quickly in the first session he is the big wicket.

Then you never know what can happen!

Hazlewood has been expensive with the ball.

I thought he would bowl a tighter line on off stump but he strayed onto the pads too much which was disappointing.

Where's Wato when you need a hat-trick:lol::lol:
