Australia recall Michael Clarke, Matthew Wade and David Warner for third one-dayer against Sri Lanka..

By Steve Larkin AAP January 14, 2013 6:09AM

Cricket Australia will summon its big guns after the so-called second stringers misfired against Sri Lanka in the one-day match in Adelaide, losing by eight wickets.

Captain Michael Clarke, wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and explosive batsman David Warner will be recalled for Friday's game in Brisbane.

And injured pacemen Mitchell Starc (calf) and Mitchell Johnson (side strain) are fit after missing the Adelaide loss.

Coach Mickey Arthur says captain Clarke, Wade and Warner will return after sitting out the initial two one-dayers with enforced rests.

He said Starc and Johnson both could have played on Sunday if the stakes had been high enough.

"It was a safety first issue, if it was a semi-final of a World Cup, they both would have played, but it wasn't,'' Arthur said.

Starc was withdrawn with calf soreness from the series-opening victory in Melbourne last Friday.

And Johnson was a pre-game withdrawal with a nagging side complaint.

"Mitchell Johnson ... has got some pain in the side which started in the Sydney Test match,'' Arthur said.

"We played him through that Sydney Test match, he bowled through it.

"He bowled through the (opening) one-dayer, it flared up a little bit again.

"And it was not worth the risk (in Adelaide). He will be available again and bowling flat out come Friday night in Brisbane.''

Wade will take the spot of wicketkeeper Brad Haddin, who was forced from the field on Sunday with a hamstring strain.

And Warner appears set to tip Aaron Finch from opening the batting, with Finch making just 20 runs in the initial two one-dayers.

Moises would have been a good selection in October.

But since the Champions Trophy the merkin hasn't been able to hit the ball of the square.

Im f**king fed up with this shit.

Wtf? No Khawaja but Maxwell is retained? Feel sorry for Uzi never given a real shot, imagine he was given the same chance as someone like Cameron White.

Once again an organisation run by people with NFI

Probably all have a pony tale and an ear ring and drive a Porsche and have some degree. In other word a complete wanker

like Haddin ?

I know he has a muscle strain but the fossil said he was gorne anyway and according to Mickey Arthur on Foxsports this morning, we have only rotated 3 players all summer and one was Starc in the first ODI, all others were caused by injuries

He would have performed better than Haddin did yesterday. I reckon we could have seen him get a brillint century on that pitch, but we'll never know

The Australian squad for the third and fourth matches is:

George Bailey

Xavier Doherty
Moises Henriques
Phillip Hughes
David Hussey
Mitchell Johnson
Glenn Maxwell
Clint McKay
Mitchell Starc
Matthew Wade
David Warner

Oozie dropped, Moises added and Maxwell retained
Going by that squad,

Warner
Hughes
Bailey
Clarke
Hussey
Wade
Henriques
Johnson
Starc
McKay
Doherty

Would have loved to see Pattinson there some where.
