Man, the fact we can play good cricket and generally avoid being merkins burns some of you Aussies, doesn't it

I don't think they care if we play good or bad cricket on this point. But they do not appear to like being portrayed as feral when other countries are portrayed as polite. But you could well be right, it may hurt them more if a team can win politely.

Perhaps not acting/being feral would fix the perception issue

lol it doesn't burn at all tbh - justifying a players position in the side on the grounds that he is a nice guy is just not something I've heard before.

He took a good catch in the last game. But that drop in Adelaide was horrible. He's unproven yet I think.

Agreed, Adelaide was horrible. Pressure situation too.

But he's done plenty of "freak" fielding this year.

Hopefully Adelaide was an aberration, and he's not a "choke" player.

Lol is that clown Bowden still around. Flicks the pad with a loud thud, out mate gives it a wide. He hasn't got a clue

Gunathalikke reminds me a bit of Asanka Gurusinhe

Southee bowling an assortment of pies. Can't believe Henry was shanked from the squad.

We may defend this score with wickets, but I think we are 25-45 runs below par. This is a 300+ wicket.

this should suit SL

does this Nelson pitch generally turn

It's suiting them more than previous ones did, but also their pride seems to have been stirred - and Dilshan is a great, he is over due

Not sure if it normally turns or not, beautiful climate there, sunny, just a lovely place so you'd expect good wickets - surprised it's so given they're playing again on 2nd

Hopefully this match wakes up the selectors with regard Latham's scoring rate (looked better today but not compared to SL openers).

Ronchi has to be under pressure for his spot in the team soon, too.

Shame in many senses that Gunathalika gave some slip catching practise to Taylor in many senses, he was batting absolutely beautifully. He was striking them clean as a whistle.

LOL - Latham's played 3 matches in a row. Wake up? How about give the guy a chance. His record for someone who is in and out of the team is decent.

What a hammering this is becoming. Well done Sri Lanka. Finally their batsmen have played with a bit of ticker and some of these bowlers are being found to be horrendously short of a gallop.

This post is entirely innaccurate.

He has played NINE ODI matches in a row. He has not missed a NZ ODI match since NZ left England. He has opened in all of them.

How about you wake up?

How about give the guy a chance. His record for someone who is in and out of the team is decent.

He is in and out of the team because he bats too slow for the pitches he bats on. He got big scores this winter tour - but he started his innings painfully slowly. Had he got out, they were bad innings. As it was, when he caught his innings up to a certain extent - the reality is - he should have had a bigger scores by scoring faster at the start of the innings or gotten out earlier and wasted less balls.

Striking in the mid 70's for a career is too slow for an opener. He has had 15 goes at opening now. The last 9 in a row. And 35 matches altogether. How many chances does he need to score quick in the powerplays on a good batting wicket?

Are you a Cantabrian? Are Cantabrians above criticism?
