From what I have read Greg Chappell has a lot to answer for.

A couple of weeks ago, a mate of mine was at an u16 NSW day with young bowlers.

First thing they did was get the group of 50 kids together and line them up. They then pointed out 25-30 of them and told them to leave. The reason - they were considered too short and that they wouldn't grow any taller and by their reckoning wouldn't make the height to be a decent fast bowler. So despite any stats, ability, skill, heart or enthusiasm...these kids were cast off like a used franga.

That's where cricket is at in Australia.

Please tell me this is not true.

Imagine being invited to an U16s rep day based upon skills you’d shown at age level only to have some f**khead coach dismiss you without seeing you bowl a ball.

You’d never play or watch the game again.

It’s really no different to missing out on a rep team because little johnnie’s mother is the scorer, billy’s dad is the coach and the team manager has 4 son’s all the same age.
