As soon as the ball deviates just a little bit we have nothing. It's as simple as that, AB made of a career not getting out and getting gritty 30's and 40's when out of form on tough decks against quality bowling.

Yep all the modern batters are overrated clowns

The Warner's,Williamson's,Smith's Root's would average 30 in a non genius era

smart of us to put the tail in from 4-6 so we've got some decent batsmen left once the bowlers are tired and the ball is a bit older

That's the difference. People can talk about technique, T20, flat decks, big bats all they like. But at the end of the day, there are very few gritty, gutsy cricketers willing to apply themselves being produced any more. They all have the mentality that they want to dominate, they want to play shots and feel bat on ball. And maybe all those things above have contributed to that, but so have coaches along the way and the entire process of developing a cricketer. The attitude of the modern bay batsman is almost exclusively one of arrogance, rather than one of being willing to graft and grind.

Agreed mate, no one willing to grind through a tough period.

Cometh the hour cometh the Darsh!!
