Nevill is paying the price for being a classical batsman.

All you have to do is hear Warne fapping it raw in the commentary box about the idea of having a counter-attacking lower order hitter at 7 to know what the mentality of the selectors is.

It's f**king disgusting that Nevill has been axed because he's been stuck batting behind gumbies like Mitchell f**king Marsh.

Could Handscomb have been the keeper ?

I would have kept Ferguson, its his home deck in Adelaide where he probably has played the most d/n FC cricket over the others. Not convinced on Maddinson and Renshaws selections. Heres hoping they do well, otherwise the Marsh boys will be picked back for the Pakistan series

Hopefully when SOK and Chris Lynn are fit they are given extended runs in the test side. Patterson is a future test player, hopefully he continues to score well in Shield. Could be picked before the summer is out

Can see it ending up ugly. Ferguson deserved to play. I was against it earlier after failing in Shield but I think it's dumb picking Renshaw et al ahead of him.

I'm glad we didn't pick Patterson. As you said he is a future test player, so it's probably best he isn't involved in this mess of a series. No matter who we pick SA are going to wipe the floor with us. best not to be any part of that shit.

Thought Neville was unlucky. He at least showed fight in Perth, and has done so in other games as well.
Selectors would probably have liked to pick Bancroft, but Renshaw is in form at least. Good luck to him,

I get that Nevill had a good second dig at Perth, but the way some of you are carrying on he's the second coming of Jeffrey Dujon. He averages 22. That will ALWAYS mean you are vulnerable. Nevill has no complaints, his contributions with the bat were virtually non-existent. Would I pick Scissorhands. Of course not. I'm not drunk. But I don't think Nevill has done anywhere near enough to cement himself.

He is averaging 30.67 this series v South Africa.
Scissorhands averages 28.25 in Shield so far this season.

I'm no genius but I think 30.67 in Test Cricket is a tad better than 28.25 in Shield.
Especially when Nevill has had to face the best pace attack in the world and Wade has faced guys who can't get a look in ahead of Joe Mennie.

Also, I didn't even notic on my first look because I was still angry at the Wade selection - they dropped Ferguson? What the f**k?

This is just a PHENOMENAL message to send to new players. One bad game and you're out the door.

These selectors lurch from bad to f**king worse. Mennie is one thing because he never should have been picked in the first place but Ferguson has a decade of solid shield form behind him.

Ferguson five failures in a row cost him....and he isn't Mitchell Marsh....

Needs to go back and score runs to get back in if he wants it bad enough.

I'm sure there'll be spots for him to fill.

Ferguson dropped after one game for a slogger like Maddinson lmao. And Matt Wade ffs.

I couldn't really give a shit about this side.

Nevill needed to do more.

He only averaged 8 in Sri Lanka.

Seems to have a problem with the mental side of the game.

this for a lot of them, mentally we just weren't ready for this series. We seem to be when we go over there, but this series we played like we HAD to be aggressive

no way is Elgar, Duminy and Bavuma better players than Warner, Khawaja, Smith. But during this series, in most part, they were easily better. Out shot selection has been woefull without earning the right to go the tonk, this notion to his every wide ball for 4 has bit us on the ass yet again, plus some stupid run outs cost us big time. On top of all this some quality bowling, then we deserve the spanking we are getting

Nevill seems to have been getting a pretty easy ride from your average punter.

I'm no Wade fan either, but Nevill's place in the side was simply untenable - times have changed, you can't carry a guy who bats at #7 averaging 20.

Feel sorry for Ferguson and Mennie. I didn't think Mennie should have been picked in the first place but to only get 1 innings to bowl (defending 80) before being dropped when your batsmen failed twice is rough. Ferguson again only one test is not a real opportunity and both are SA boys who are dropped for an Adleiade test. What makes it even more bizarre is Cricket Australia rested Mennie for the shield game, what is the point of that??

Pleased Burns and Voges were dropped but would have kept Nevill.

The fact Wade is being brought back is sad, a Terrible keeper and not even a great batsmen. Not sure why Maddinson (Patterson anyone?) either but atleast he is young. Very happy with Sayers been a fan of his for a while and hope he plays. Handscomb deserves his spot and while I woudnt of picked Renshaw due to his inexperience (12 FC games) atleast he is young and in form, and still better than Joe Burns

Nevill is the only one who's consistently showed any spine ffs. Not his fault he comes in at 5/f**k all more often than anyone else in the game.

Christ, Wade coming in after a batting collapse is an absolute nightmare....he's nothing but a slogger

lol how did you come to the conclusion that Nevill has showed spine when the merkin has scored 9 or less in 6 of his last 10 innings, that's some amazing spine showing ablilty from Peter Nevill.

Nevill wasn't up to it with the bat. He had to go.

Thank goodness Mitch Marsh isn't there.

Not sure on Maddinson. He's very inconsistent.
